Considering he claims he knows how dangerous this is - it is worse than the flu (even though he publicly stated it was not so bad), why IS he holding campaign events that can spread it? We all know the answer.

No, he doesn't care. The people who cheer and clap for him can drop dead tomorrow, as long as they cheer and clap today.
He wants adulation NOW and is incapable of understanding even the simplest cause-and-effect. I.e - "if I gather my supporters in a huge crowd, some of them might get sick and be unable to vote for me".
He probably also figures Daddy Vladdy will take care of securing his re-election, even if every last member of his base is dead from COVID by election day.

The left has it's riots. The right has it's peaceful protests. Going to a Trump rally is a peaceful protest. We are sick and tired of the Democrats and what they want to do to our country!
His incessant need for adulation is more important than anything else. The reassurance he gets from his rallies is what keeps him going and makes him feel like he is going to win.
