That companies profile is so big and encompasses so many products, it's hard to see what they are doing. Several plants have closed, but they are also investing in other things.

Without another round of massive stimulus to continue to pay airline workers for not working, commercial carriers intend massive layoffs, beginning in October.

Nothing DC can do to restore commercial air travel. As airlines go, so does lodging.

Most of the developed world will not allow US travelers to enter.

Disney was compelled to reduce their already reduced hours in peak season. The “ open and they will come” strategy did not work.

Cruise lines are accepting 2021 bookings. Intineraries are seriously iffy, due to restrictions on US passengers.

Trade associations are not booking events. This has a huge impact on the top 3 trade show destinations, Las Vegas, Chicago and Orlando.

World wide pandemics tend to effect travel and tourism...go figure.

As it relates to manufacturing....

Deloitte and Touché does periodic surveys of CEOs in multiple sectors in terms of forecasting. In late 2015, it surveyed global manufacturers who projected the US would once again be the #1 global manufacturing country, based on value of goods.

This was well before knowing who would be nominated, let alone win, in 2016. In other words, it had nothing to do with who would occupy the WH. Nonetheless, whomever was nominated and won would take credit.

This prediction was based on the unprecedented back log for custom industrial robotics by US manufacturers.

Imagine Boeing’s unforeseen troubles and trade relations with China put a serious dent in outcomes.

You do realize, this could have been attainted without one single new job being created here , right ? This is about jobs, specifically manufacturing related new jobs....here on US soil. That is what is important to many of us.

The National Association of Manufacturers seems to be pretty happy with Trump.

Just a few, there were more, not related to automotive but manufacturing related. And for those that counter with a "it's a very minimal amount of jobs" , first, in a state that hemorrhaged jobs the last 20 years, any step in the opposite direction is a good one. And second, the footprint of a new plant, or plant extensions is huge. It requires networks of contracting companies , all skilled trades to complete. And all those people spend money in the area , so restaurants, stores, etc get a boost.

That is good news for the Mitten, without a doubt.

Good signs, but hope it continues. Here's to hoping the world learned it lesson that it is never good to be too dependent on any one country. It gives them too much power. When said country happens to be communist, that is a double no no.
