Addressing a Constitution Day celebration hosted by Hillsdale College, Attorney General Barr suggested on Wednesday that the calls for a nationwide lockdown to prevent the spread of the Coronavirus was the "greatest intrusion on civil liberties" in history "since Slavery."

"You know, putting a national lockdown, stay at home orders, is like house arrest. Other than slavery, which was a different kind of restraint, this is the greatest intrusion on civil liberties in American history,"

Comparing a lockdown for Public Health & Safety to Slavery is mind boggling !
This is not going to go well in the Black community.
It's just amazing how tone deaf this administration is !

By the way if you don't like the source there is already video out of him saying it.

Barr's an expert, based on experience, on violating the rights of innocents so he may have something here.

Nowhere near as mind boggling as how someone can still vote democrat with a clear conscience after seeing how their shock troops have destroyed our cities over the last 6 months.

Also, the key word you missed was "since", but don't let that stop you from creating a thread based on sheer despracy.

Gosh ladies! Fun news, Barr would trade the current lockdown for you having the right to vote! And you people of color? Man, this is WORSE then segregation! etc etc etc.

Folks, this sort of rhetoric is how you move to fascism. Maybe you should worry about this more.

Well, you'd expect this from Trump's personal attorney. No surprise.

So, I'm all for Trump continuing to hold big rallies where hardly anybody is wearing masks. It's a great way to prove it isn't dangerous to one's health. If you end up positive for COVID-19, chances are you won't even know you're infected by it or at worse will only have mild symptoms that only last for a few days at the most. I certainly don't see any online posts made by anyone complaining about being very sick with COVID-19 after going to a Trump rally and wishing they didn't do it. It will show why the entire nation needs to finish fully opening back up. No more masks. No more social distancing. No more limiting how many people can gather for a concert, game or whatever.

Some of the greatest atrocities in human's history have been in the name of the public good. Stalin, Hitler, the Congo, Rwanda and Bosnia genocides. And, this is just in the last 80 years.

Now, before you go off the rails and accuse me of comparing deaths of millions to the lockdown, I'm simply comparing public good argument used for and in favor of curtailing one's freedoms. It's a slippery slope.

Furthermore, nothing much has gone well in the black community since the passage of civil rights bill. Blacks are worse off in almost every category, except for college attendance and graduation. Conditioning and telling people they're victims all day long doesn't exactly translate into success for those very same people.
