Can you believe this ignorant little twit? Highest taxes in the nation and this dimwit wants to raise them? She is trying to destroy the state.

Quote:
New York Democrat Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez is urging Empire State lawmakers to raise taxes, despite opposition from Gov. Andrew Cuomo.

Ocasio-Cortez called on Cuomo and New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio to increase rates as the state battles a massive coronavirus-induced multi-billion-dollar budget hole.

“I’m calling on Mayor de Blasio and Gov. Cuomo to raise revenue to fund universal child-care programs, significantly increase staffing at schools and fund the infrastructure improvements, including ventilation, that our school buildings need to be safe,” Ocasio-Cortez said in a statement obtained by The New York Post on Wednesday.

A spokesperson for Ocasio-Cortez did not immediately return FOX Business’ request for comment.
So thankful I bailed on that state 26 years ago.

I don’t know how she get elected. Most if not all congress and senator are lawyers or business person, she was a bartender. I cannot bet how low NYC can go.

She does have a Bachelor of Arts *** laude in ingernatioanl relations and economics from Boston University and served as an intern to Senator Ted Kennedy. After the bartender job - reportedly taken to help her mother keep her home - she became a community organizer and worked for a nonprofit.

I disagree with her on many points but it's unfair to simply dismiss her as a bartender. And I think there is value in having some representatives in Congress that are not MBAs and JDs and have experiences that other Americans have.

I have no problem with electing people without MBAs ect - but what I expect is someone who has some brains and she has none. People are leaving NY and have been for years now due to the taxes and politics shoved down their throats. We plan on moving next year as we can no longer afford to live in this state with all the taxes and we are far from rich. We are one of those who make too much to take advantage of any of the freebies offered but we don't have enough to enjoy life here once my DH retires.

Cuomo already signed a bill eliminating the cap on the school taxes for next year. My school taxes are now more than the county taxes.
