Chris Christie Spent 7 days in the ICU From Covid (politician, state, official)

"I believed that when I entered the White House grounds, that I had entered a safe zone, due to the testing that and I and many others underwent every day. I was wrong. I was wrong to not wear a mask at the Amy Coney Barrett announcement and I was wrong not to wear a mask at my multiple debate prep sessions with the President and the rest of the team," Christie said in a statement obtained by NBC News.
He added that "as a former public official, I believe we have not treated Americans as adults, who understand truth, sacrifice and responsibility."

"When you have seven days in isolation in an ICU though, you have time to do a lot of thinking," Christie said, advocating that people "follow CDC guidelines in public no matter where you are and wear a mask to protect yourself and others."

I thought masks were intended to protect others. I don't understand how a mask would have protected Chris Christie from those not wearing masks.

Glad he made it, though surprised considering he is extremely obese. Christie definitely should have stayed at home with his condition.

Wow, even though I never liked him, at least he learned something from the experience of enduring COVID.

A good mask protects others but it will also protect you, not perfectly, but it will help. That's a mask that fits and is well made. He had the same disease as Trump but he actually THOUGHT about it and LEARNED and will now join the rest of us who want to defeat this wretched disease by wearing a MASK.

He's obviously obese. I wasn't aware of his asthma. He is a great candidate to be on lockdown.
