My wife and I pay out of pocket for private insurance. It costs us roughly 5% of our yearly income. It's sucks, but I feel it will be much less expensive than a "free" for all plan. Provided one stays out of the hospital. If I had to go into surgery , I have to cover a $5500 deductible. It is what it is.
$5,500 deductible IS uber expensive, 90% of Americans don't have $400 in savings let alone $5,500!

I have a friend who lives in Canada. He LOVES their system.
He got hurt at work. Broke his ankle. Took several weeks to get scheduled for surgery. they had to break it to fix it because of the delay.
spent weeks waiting on Physical Therapy. (the call it physio) whatever... by the time he got to his Physio, it had been too long. Had to have another surgery. back to Physio wait Q. got in just in time.
did his PT. He LOVED his healthcare. because he sat home and didn't work and was off a year with a broken ankle.
In America, he would have been back at work in a month or two. surgery would have been in 24 hours, and PT would have begun on the DAY he was healed enough to proceed.
THAT is the difference.
Americas system costs too much. ACA made it more expensive.... NOT LESS. But don't tell me Canada's system is better. Its cheeper. and, its CHEEP
I don't buy your anecdote, and B, you forgot to mention the $4k+ bill he would have gotten even with insurance in our system
Why do Republcans want take away the ACA?
Because Obama bad. Plus, I'm well enough off to be able to afford health insurance, I got mine, sucks to be you, now get off my lawn sickies and do not raise my rates with your sickness.
Instead of handing out welfare, food stamps, free health care, etc., the Fed Gov could re-implement CCC-type camps that Democrat FDR used to complete many of the infrastructure repair/maintenance jobs needed throughout the US.
Yes, that disabled old lady living in the falling apart trailer down the road. Get her out there chopping trees down for the CCC. Get her out to work. She don't need no food stamps!

No, it's because it's a bad law. It drove up premiums and deductibles for EVERYONE. Access is limited in many places. People can't even afford to use their plans.
Notice that in the debate, Biden only mentioned that premiums went down. He said nothing about deductibles going up by much more, making the insurance impossible for the low income "beneficiaries".

That's on the Insurance companies, ACA doesn't have anything to do with that

Little old ladies aren't the majority of food stamp recipients. The vast majority are age 35 or younger. For the kids on food stamps, their parents can serve in an FDR-style CCC in exchange for their public assistance benefits.

I've had this discussion with that poster before, she's convinced people should live 10+ to an apartment and walk 3+ hrs each way to work etc to "live within their budget"
