I take my absentee ballot & drop it in the ballot box at the polling center on election day. As we have gone to all vote by mail this year, if that is not open, I will go to the ballot drop box at city hall or library.
Why wait, it’s just miserable on Election Day having to deal with all the people. Early voting is a 20 minute wait or less if you do your homework.
I've lived in several places, and I've seen different voting systems. In general, vote by mail is my favorite. I don't have to stand in any lines, and can vote on my own schedule.
When I lived in Texas, I mostly did early voting, but in a presidential year I've had to wait just over an hour to vote early. If you don't work and can go at a random time on a weekday, the lines are probably shorter, but I always had to go on the weekend. Sure, I feel voting is important and I'll wait an hour to vote. But there are more efficient ways to do it, so it's frustrating to waste that time voting in person.
At the time that I lived in Michigan and Minnesota, both were election day only voting unless you met some strict requirements for absentee voting. No early voting in either at the time. At least in my town, Michigan was pretty quick voting, even in a presidential election year. Minnesota was awful. In one presidential election year I had to wait over 2.5 hours. Both allow mail voting now, I believe.
I have been voting by mail for about 25 years or so. I used a dropbox this year for the first time because of Republican efforts to delay and subvert the mail delivery.
