The survival rate gets worse the older you get and the more health problems you have.

The survival rate doesn't significantly go down until you hit 70. Even then, it's 86%, not that bad of a number. You also factor in preexisting conditions and immune system strength. But all in all, your average Joe Blow will be mostly fine. And Joe Blow Jr. will barely be affected at all.

You can think that's low, you can think it's too high. It's just the current number.
Well, cases don't represent all infections.

14% mortality was an earlier Chinese estimate, more based on CFR.

https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019...scenarios.html

Latest best guess from CDC is 5.4% for 70+. Not great, still. Chances of being hospitalized are higher too. People at this age range should be very cautious. I worry there's lots of younger people that overestimate the danger, and lots of older people that underestimate it. Symptoms of political polarization, and an election year.

But yes, a lot of the mortality in that age range is driven by poor health and comorbidities.

For under 60 and not morbidly obese, statistically it's a whole 'nother thing.

of course they don't.

I take guilty pleasure laughing at the line "the only deadly disease you have to get tested to know whether you have it or not."

The figure I went by was current hospitalizations (the 45K reported) by the Active Case number (3.9MM I think).

I don't know if you moderate POC or not, but I'll repeat - it would be very helpful in many ways of the Covid topics were all combined. I wouldn't have to post this very important piece over and over.

Some researchers have tried to grow coronavirus from samples with cycle thresholds higher than 34. But they were unsuccessful, meaning the virus wasn’t active – yet the people who took the test were labeled as positive.

Dr. Michael Mina, an assistant professor of epidemiology at Harvard University's T.H. Chan School of Public Health, has recommended cutting off the cycle threshold closer to 30 to identify only those people who have enough virus to spread. Lowering the cycle threshold would reduce cases by 80 to 90 percent, he said.

"You can point a threshold level which says you are infectious, which is about a million copies per [milliliter} in a sample, which is a cycle threshold of about 25," he said.

Sorry but it's reality. Calling the virus lberal bs or plandemics or anything other than what it is really makes republicans look out of touch with reality and or just plain evil.

Honestly what are you even talking about. A 99 percent survival rate is still 1000 people a day or more dying or more than 2 million deaths. Denying it is either evil or not based in reality. Not to mention hospitals are being overwhelmed or soon will be and that will cause the death rate to be higher and others won't be able to get proper medical care for other issues.

Some of y'all are truly only peddling the trump narrative and that only truly causes more infections than anything.

HAHA!
Proper masks do work or are you going to tell the doctors and nurses and millions of other medical personnel that use them every day they don't work. Saying masks don't work is like saying the earth is flat lol.

Best that we stop testing and Covid-19 will just disappear. Neat.
