They're blocking the highway with their cars. There's nothing you can do in that case but just wait. You can't even turn around, because there's a barrier. You're just . . . stuck. Until they decide to allow you to go again.
I guess they saw it when Antifa did it, and it seemed like a good "look". Certainly gives them a feeling of power many of them may not have experienced before. If you block a road and keep people hostage until you're good and ready to unblock it, that's a rush I'm sure.
