Did enough people in Florida check out Washington's experience before voting to increase their min wage to $15 an hour?

Saw another video where a restaurant owner is having a harder time finding full time workers because many of the workers prefer working part time with the $15 an hour.

That video is misleading and just a straight up lie. Florida does have a tip credit wage for servers. Assuming the restaurant is decent, the employer would never be required to pay $15/hr (which, btw, goes into effect in 2026).

Right now it's $8.56/hr (where the employer is responsible for a minimum of $5.54) and next year it goes up to $8.65/hr (where the employer is responsible for a minimum of $5.63/hr). If a server is not making $3/hr in tips, that server is in the wrong line of business.

Only in america are customers expected to subsidize restaurants. Tipping is only a thing in a handful of poor third world countries. No one does in a single first world nation.

On one hand, I don't think restaurants should ever be open because they are super spreading the coronavirus but on the other hand, I think restrauant workers need a living wage of at least 45k a year. The paradox of being liberal

No one is forcing you to tip.

There's plenty of restaurants where you can make well above $45k. If you're in it for the money, a diner off the beaten path is not for you. Work at something in the city or around tourism.

I don't. This is why i don't patronize restaurants, but other ppl do and it's expected because this is how ppl make a living. Therein lies the problem. But thank you for ignoring the bigger picture.

What if you don't live in a big city? And even if you do, that doesn't mean you'll be hired at a super successful big city restaurant.

You think it's an issue that people appreciate the service and tip. I disagree. People are free to tip or not tip as they wish.

When I hold the door open for someone, I appreciate a thank you but I don't expect it to the point where it's a big deal. Servers appreciate it a tip but if you don't want to it's not a big deal.

Tips are a great way to make a living. I don't see the issue here.
