A vaccine? Just like how there are still deaths from the flu despite a vaccine? What do you think?

All liberal governors to keep the people down and dependent on them. That's how they stay in power and amass wealth.

I would think that after the first 6 months of next year that anyone who wants a vaccine will have had the opportunity to get one. At that point if you continued oppressing the public the vast majority will have a fit.

Probably.

Fun fact: your entire servitude to the State has been built on “emergency measures”.

Complaining solely about the raping you’ve received from Covid measures is myopic and frankly makes any such protester out to be an emotional short-sighted fool who really isn’t interested in freedom anyway.

In summation, take your raping. You like it. It worked for you at the Whiskey Rebellion, 9-11, the New Deal, Lincoln’s federal income tax, the creation of the Federal Reserve, etc.

Solution?

Dump this asinine notion of a Social Contract. Somewhere freedom will thank you.

If I know South Dakotans (and people in Wisconsin also) they will simply ignore a permanent mandate. If the vaccines only work 3-6 months and covid is a permanent part of our lives the most vulnerable people to it will generally die within the first 3 years and the people with more optimized immune responses will live on to propagate the species. That's called evolution. At some point you say enough is enough and go back to normal living and accept science in the form of evolution, as long as the hospitals aren't overwhelmed and by spring 2021 they won't be. I'm fine with a mask for 100 days... that takes us up until May... beyond that I'm done with masks.

The vaccine is just another tool to fight the virus but it is not 100% reliable and people will still catch the covid and still die from it. No one wants to get sick with the common cold let alone the covid so we need to be smart about it by keeping our immune systems up, wash our hands frequently, stay away from sick people but guess what people will still catch it and die.

sholomar in his post above is correct, the virus is a piece of the evolution puzzle. It is survival of the fittest. We can try to help the infected through science and common sense but in the end evolution will win out.

I don't see an end to the lock downs and mask mandates. We were told in the beginning that we would need 2 weeks of shutdowns to flatten the curve, who knew the curve they were referring to was a chart of Trump's popularity but here we are many months later with no end in sight.

No reason for any Governor to make Covid restrictions permanent.

The inventors of the BioNTech/ Pfizer vaccine project that normalizing is, best case, not going to happen until mid- late 2022 and there will likely be major global initiatives to vaccinate come Autumn, 2021.

The Trump Admin has made clear “Americans will be taking the Trump vaccine”. No reason to believe Trump’s base will not be among the first of the general public to be inoculated once there is an adequate supply to vaccinate the masses.

No one knows what percentage of the population needs to be vaccinated to achieve herd immunity. It has been estimated 75-90%.

There are multiple strains of the flu, and they keep mutating so new vaccines need to be developed. But many people already have developed partial resistance to recent strains, so it is easier to contain. The scientists are expecting the same to happen with COVID-19 -- it will keep mutating and new vaccine variants will be needed. But at least we will have a functional path to deploy a tested vaccine now, so hopefully it will go more quickly in the future.

No - because, like the flu, the goal is not to eliminate it entirely (as that would be impossible with the flu) - but to reduce its spread to some level waaaaay below that which threatens to damage the health care system.

That's it.

Some of you have really run amuck with your conspiracies - you think "everyone" is "in on it." Governors and mayors and leaders everywhere - the world around - want MONEY - not shutdowns - the two are mutually exclusive. When it's feasible to "open up" - full-throttle - they will.
