Sure she's a doctor but I have no more intention of referring to her as Dr. Biden than I do of calling Melania Trump Mrs. Trump. I'll refer to her as Jill Biden the same way we refer to Melania or to Michelle Obama or any of the other first ladies. I'll refer to her as Dr. in cases when I would normally say Miss or Mrs. which won't be often.

It is an ego trip. They are just so impressed with themselves.

ngl, if I could use ‘Dr,’ ‘Sir,’ ‘esquire,’ or any other such title with my name because I had earned or been awarded it, I definitely would at every opportunity.

Stretch? Ph.D. is LITERALLY the definition of Doctor! The English speaking world has used Doctor as a title for PH.D. holders since the 1300s!

Physicians borrowed the term in the last 200 years. Borrowed it from Ph.D.s

Not really. But it can be considered a terminal professional degree vs. a research degree. Like a JD vs. a Ph.D. in Law theory. Yale has a Ph.D. in Law. However, that example undermines the point (dr vs. esq.)

Yes, really. A very long way. Rather than a terminal degree, many refer to it as a vanity degree. Lot's of community college teachers like Jill get one for that reason. 3 years part time...

If she was an MD, and a surgeon, we could call her Mister Biden.

Bill Cosby is a Dr. He has a Doctorate in Education. Many Universities require tenured professors to have terminal degrees. If that is case the entire faculty could be addressed as Dr. so and so. Everyone with a terminal is a doctor. Its a little unsophisticated to think that a doctor of medicine is the only doctor that there is.

But that isn't the case with Jill Biden, hers is a 3 year part time vanity degree as even Joe acknowledged: “She said, ‘I was so sick of the mail coming to Sen. and Mrs. Biden. I wanted to get mail addressed to Dr. and Sen. Biden.’ That’s the real reason she got her doctorate,” he said.

I can see having PhD after your name, but Dr. should be reserved for medical Dr's.

Oh yeah! she has a Doctorate in Education.. But her demanding to be called Dr Jill implies that she is a practicing physician.

Tucker Carlson Show pointed out tonight that is the same doctor title like Bill Cosby has. and that her and her husband have anxiety about how much they think they are worth, Jill wanted to earn a doctorate degree because she didn't want to be called Mrs Biden. she wanted this title to make herself feel worth it.
