the answer is simple.

because our politicians figured out that hate is a selling point. America is the next battleground for socialism and it is simply the playbook. foment distrust and hate between tribes. create division. watch things implode.

you want to stop the hate? get rid of the progressives. go back to the day when liberals and conservatives agreed on the problems and fought over how to fix them.

That's one of the things I liked about the 50's of which I have been accused of wanting the negatives instead. In the 50's we still had Republicans and Democrats with opposing views but we still respected each other and got along not like the hate we are seeing today and yes most of it is coming from these so-called progressives.

You've got it a** backwards as usual. The hate is mostly coming from the left and are Biden supporters.

I agree. It's the progressive moment that is causing a lot of problems. The powers that be are encouraging a lot of the hate and division.

Divided people are easier to manipulate and to control. Fear works best, fearful people don't make rational decisions.

This is nonsensical. All hate is truth in the sense it's a genuine emotion one feels; that one expresses/verbalizes it doesn't change or alter it from (still) being hate.

We have lost the ability (as a country) to argue/discuss politics (and/or anything) without escalation and insult i.e. a lack of education/effective communication - as evidenced by online forums, such as this one, which tend to implode quickly.

Think in terms of Stahl's interview with Trump on 60 Minutes, for example, in which the only way he answered a question about 'anything' was turning it back around to criticize Biden/Harris in some way. It's what people who don't understand/know the subject do - all they feel/care about is raw emotion i.e. their hate (and taking someone else down).

It's hilarious you're making hate one-dimensional.

Let me put this into perspective for you: Mississippi is literally full of White Republicans and Black Democrats throughout the state which should theoretically make it Ground Zero for a full scale race war. Yet no such thing has occurred on a major scale.

Are there divisions in the U.S.? Yes. But the same could be said for many countries. The U.S. is not any more divided than any other country with a diversity of people and politics.

Shouldn't I be asking the British why there's so much hate in their country after I read BBC news reports of Slavic immigrants getting attacked after Brexit?

Anyone can use the Internet and find hate anywhere in every corner of the Earth.

Name me one country, particularly with the level of ethnic and political diversity of the U.S., that's devoid of hate and then we can have a serious discussion.
I disagree with the bolded.

Sure, there is contention in other countries with comparable diversity, like the UK, Canada, and Australia. But it doesn't compare with that of the US. Not even close.

If you've only ever lived in the US, you might simply be used to the neverending, over-the-top social/political anger in US media, be it cable TV, radio, or social media. Some of us, though, can never quite get used it, no matter how long we're here.

I'm left-leaning, but I derive no joy from Biden's win. Apart from the fact that he doesn't inspire me, I know, as we all do, that the election results are simply the next plot device in the Great American Epic Drama, chapter 78,567. It'll be a long one, too. And a bumpy ride, with all the usual histrionics and name-calling. Here we go...

The drama never ends. And I'm exhausted by it.

Why is there so much Hate in the United States?
Because The Fifth Column (who used to be The Fourth Estate) thrive on it and feed it like a hungry beast every day via news, social media, Hollywood movies and TV shows, sports, and politics.

It's everywhere people look and see. They can't hardly escape from it. Therefore the Fifth Column's manufactured hatefest has become normalized.

You’d also have to get rid of the MAGA Hatter types before “conservatives” will be willing to work with liberals.
