How long do you think $600 is going to last these people that are desperately waiting on it? LOL (a week or two at most)...
What happens when the $600 runs out?
Not long. It's really for those people the extended UI benefits. Unfortunately there will probably be delays since they dicked around for so long. Stimulus is stimulus, not UI. The hope is that people do the opposite of what I would do if eligible for it which is stick it in a bank account and not really even notice it one way or the other. It works much better when it gets spent within a week or two or at least a few months.
Not really a fan of the stimulus in general but the hard cap at least puts it in the hands of people who are more likely to rush out and spend it whereas the ~$200 bucks or so I got from the original stimulus is still sitting in my bank. I really don't have much I'm spending money on now. Living at home, doing all my own cooking, barely driving anywhere... it's surprising how much I frittered away on restaurants, coffee shops, bars, the occasional concert, weekend trips, hotels, randomly buying something on impulse when I was out in the world and some coffee cup or local artist painting or whatever caught my eye. Major purchase I was beginning to think about was a new car but I've put three tanks of gas in the car since March, so about 1,200 miles or so versus around 25,000/year. Seems really stupid to buy a car when I barely use it.
Disappointing, for once he was on solid ground. It was a terrible bill. For once he was acting like a President and doing what he said he would do. One of the few times he was what he promised to be and he choked.
I voted for him twice, and I completely agree.
But be sure - there are other forces at work. The President, no matter who it is, has very little control over anything, anymore.
Would Congress even be thinking about voting today for the $2000 checks if Trump hadn't done what he did? Nope, they would have been content with the $600 and would have left it at that.
Why do people expect Trump to immediately sign the bill without knowing what was in it? It was a massive bill that takes time to go through, right?
No, absolutely not, but what difference does that make? Middle aged mom's post had nothing at all to do with congress. His stunt had absolutely no net gain towards advancing a 2k check stimulus check. That's because that was never his real agenda to begin with.
Maybe Trump does maybe he doesn't, that doesn't change the fact that Biden is a worthless excuse for a human being and was part of the problem for over 40 years. In short he is no way shape or form a solution, just a continuation of the old problems.
The only worthless Human being will be the one leaving the White House in 23 days.

Read my post again. I'm not debating the merits of the 600 dollar stimulus, I'm commenting on Trump's lack of leadership on a key issue.
Of course 600 will do little and because Trump delayed signing the bill many will lose a week's worth of unemployment benefits as they weren't renewed before the benefits ran out.
So he caused all this nonsense for nothing. What a loser.
Reminds of the government shutdown he caused. Just another example of his poor leadership and decision making skills.
