In the UK, retired doctors are volunteering to become Covid vaccinators to speed up the process. But the bureaucratic hurdles to volunteering are bordering on the absurd.

Retired GP Claire Barker, in a letter to the Telegraph, writes that she is expected to have documentation that she has received training in ‘conflict resolution, equality, diversity and human rights, fire safety, and preventing radicalisation’.

Dear NHS
The Red Tape faced by retired docs who want to help the vaccination roll out. 20 pieces of evidence most of us simply don't have. REALLY???

In terms of the Vaccines, the UK is rolling them out with the help of the NHS, Armed Forces, Charities and Volunteers, and has already carried out nearly 2 million, with a target of 15 million by the end of February.

Well elderly people do tend to have more what you would call "unconscious bias" ... People tend to forget modern values did not exist even 50 years ago, much less 500 or 5000. I don't have a strong opinion either way on this issue.

They will simply be giving an injection as volunteers in an emergency.

I really don't see the need for training in a profession they have spent their entire lives devoted to.

I just thought of a great idea on how to educate everyone with diversity training. The training should just be put out in the form of movies and TV shows that way everyone will learn about sensitivity and diversity without actually having to attend a class.

Aren't they already doing this? And what's stopping us from changing the channel/not watching/making fun of it?

Why is it necessary? All that’s required is a shot in the arm. This liberal nonsense will just slow down the process.

I know. Idiotic, right? This is like drowning because you refuse to get in the boat of the good old boy, risking his life looking for stranded folks on roof tops during a flood, because you are offended by the t-shirt he’s wearing. There are hills worth dying on and hills to just walk around - this definitely ought to be a detour one.

I’m sure it’s physicians who retired in the last ten years or so. I highly doubt they’re putting a 85-95 year old physician in a room and having them vaccinate people.
