ZDnet article

Quote:
Telegram announced on Monday that it reached 500 million registered users, while Signal's servers went down on Friday after seeing "millions upon millions of new users" in a sudden influx the company said exceeded even its most optimistic projections.

Privacy-focused search engine DuckDuckGo reached a major milestone in its 12-year-old history this week when it recorded on Monday its first-ever day with more than 100 million user search queries.
Gab.com, Clouthub.com, and MeWe are other platforms that are gaining market share.

Quote:
“Our traffic is up 753% in the past 24 hours. Tens of millions of visits,” said Gab in response to a question about slow loading speeds.

The free speech network announced that it would bring ten new servers online to handle the increased traffic volume.
M$ use to throw their weight around when IE was the only game in town, till people started switching more and more to alternative browsers.

Try doing a few political or health searches on duckduckgo instead of google, crazy how skewed some of them can get.

Everyone will tread lighter knowing there are alternatives, but we have to start using those alternatives for it to work.

Vote with your wallet/clicks etc.

Little back and forth here after Twitter goes after Uganda for censoring them.

Whichever way you see it, the comments are the best if you need a good laugh.

I took a screen shot of Twitter whining about being censored right after they purged a ton of people off of their platform for "wrong think".

Not going to lie, I laughed so hard when they posted that.

Just a heads up but duckduckgo is owned by the same parent company that owns google. Sure you might get different results, to a degree, but don't believe the privacy claims one bit.

Seems like they just owned the domain name, but have since transferred that to duckduckgo as well.

Giphy was made for moments like these, the irony/hypocrisy gifs are in full force. Now if only we could get people to quit posting those disturbing clown gifs ...

I like a couple of the replys:

-Twitter - “Hey, you can’t censor people, that’s our job”.
-Censorship is fine as long as Twitter is the one doing it...

I also found it funny there were a couple of twitter apologists saying it was unfair. Well if twitter can ban you because it’s their policy, then so can a government because it’s theirs. Lol
