Trump being gone has little to do with the 75 million people who wish to preserve our Constitutional Republic and everything that America stands for, and who are against a One Party Rule forever, which democrats have stated they're ready to set up by packing the Supreme Court, changing Senate rules, adding two states and opening our borders to every poor person in the world who wants a "better life."
These people aren't going away just because Trump does. So far, democrats have no idea what real fear is. I wouldn't be so quick to gloat if I were a democrat.
Also, Trump wasn’t about the GOP. Right or wrong, to those on the right he represented the anti Establishment GOP and democrat. He was not a part of either system. That’s one of the main reason they hated him so much. He wasn’t a good ole boy.
This is the Republican Party 2020 platform. In its entirety. And it's a love letter to Trump, nothing else.

WHEREAS, The RNC enthusiastically supports President Trump and continues to reject the
policy positions of the Obama-Biden Administration, as well as those espoused by the
Democratic National Committee today; therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the Republican Party has and will continue to enthusiastically support the
President’s America-first agenda;
RESOLVED, That the 2020 Republican National Convention will adjourn without adopting a
new platform until the 2024 Republican National Convention;
RESOLVED, That the 2020 Republican National Convention calls on the media to engage in
accurate and unbiased reporting, especially as it relates to the strong support of the RNC for
President Trump and his Administration; and
RESOLVED, That any motion to amend the 2016 Platform or to adopt a new platform, including
any motion to suspend the procedures that will allow doing so, will be ruled out of order.

I agree about controlling the gloating. Another grass roots messiah will arise, preaching hatred. Did you see the picture of the rioter garbed in a Camp Auschwitz tee shirt? As long as there are people who hate other people, and blame them for their own shortcomings, you will have this kind of stuff. Of course DJT became their Dear Leader, but someone else will come along to fill his shoes.
People who voted for DJT knew very well what kind of person he is. His terrible character flaws were apparent to everyone. But many, many people voted for him twice because he appealed to their basest feelings, making those feelings respectable.
Again and again he proved himself deficient in character and competence. But plenty of people voted for him twice. If not for the pandemic do you doubt he would have been reelected?
Even now, some worry about his ability to start a war.
I agree that people and especially elected officials shouldn't gloat.
That said, I think Mitt Romney hit the nail on the head in his speech on the Senate floor after the Capitol was breeched. Partial remarks are here:

Trumpism like McCarthyism is couched in lies and half truths. You have to call out liars and falsehoods for what they are. Even if hurts some people's feelings. Many of these MAGA (and Q) folks are like adults who believe in Santa Claus...they are living in a complete fantasyland.

We’ve had an awful lot of rule by Republicans in the last forty or so years. The pendulum always swings. Don’t expect a change in the Supreme Court any time soon.

He knows because he has a brain and common sense. Having those things makes you appreciate that Joe Biden did not get 80M votes. It makes you understand that Trump had a massive lead on election night, then all the Democrat-run states stopped counting, and then when we woke up the lead was gone. Yep, it was rigged.
