An 8-year-old student was kicked out of a Christian elementary school, after she told another female student she had a crush on her, the mother says.
The incident occurred last week, when Chloe Shelton, a second grader at Rejoice Christian School in Owasso, Oklahoma, told another female student she had a crush on her, mother Delanie Shelton told CNN.
Chloe was immediately removed from the playground and spent the next few hours in the principal's office, missing class time as a result, Shelton said.
"Before I was even called, the vice principal told Chloe that the Bible says that women can only have children with a man," Shelton told CNN. "(The vice principal) asked me how I feel about girls liking girls and I told her that I see no issue with it."
Shelton took Chloe home that day, and administrators told her to not come back Friday, she said.
Oh, I guarantee you there is far more to this story than mama is telling. Knowing how schools work, including religious ones, my guess is this child engaged in some manner of physical aggression along with telling the other girl she liked her or used more sexually charged language than mama is sharing. I further guess, mama went a wee bit ballistic when meeting with the administrators, and because it is a private school, they were able to sever their educational relationship with the family. Another option is that this was not a one time event or a one fellow student incident, which does kind of mesh with some of the things mama says were said to her.
Alas, we won’t get to hear the school’s side unless some other parents pipe up with the gossip.

It’s a private school, their right.

And they take gossip seriously? Of course. Name calling is a serious offence. Especially at a christian school. Was this a repeated thing everyday? If so, grounds for expelled. There are standards to follow. Behavioral standards code of conduct or ethics.

My kids attended Christian school. We, the parents, had to sign a statement affirming that we adhere to a certain set of foundational Christian beliefs, broadly defined. If the parent here is publicly stating that her beliefs don't align with those of the school, I would guess that this alone would be grounds to remove the family.
