Firstly, I want to wish everyone a Happy Black History Month this year regardless of political beliefs. However, why is it even political in the first place? It is a month to celebrate important people and events in the African American community, who pioneered change and freedom for their community. Why are some people against honoring such a month to a group that has suffered so much oppression and violence in American history and nevertheless persevered.

I think much of it has to do with resentment towards African-Americans more than anything else. I'm Black, and I love Black History Month.

I have no beef with it. I think it's fine. It honors a lot of high achieving black folks and helps to keep our history intact so that we can always understand that part of our timeline and history. I'm not for erasing history which seems to be the current trend these days.
Green mariner has hit the nail on the head. Besides resentment, hateful, ignorant, add misplaced jealousy, disgruntled envy to the list of short comings.

What kind of resentment exactly, serious question, not being argumentative. I've never in my 51 yrs ever head of anyone in the circle I have traveled have express any kind of resentment as I understand the word to mean. I'm not saying that everyone is perfect and I've probably had some contact with people that weren't so favorable to black people, but to me resentment just didn't come across.

Is that all y'all need is a month? Mm K, cool. Enjoy.
Personally I think it frames you as victims. Sorta divisive in the scheme of things.
