1) It says men are equal and that they are endowed by their creator with rights. Moreover, the term "among" doesn't mean "only". So there could be rights beyond these.
2) The Declaration of Independence isn't a legal document. And the writer of the Declaration of Independence was one of the most racist people in American History. Hitlerian-levels of racism.
3) None of this has anything to do with democracy, nor were the founders fans of democracy. Which is why they limited voting only to rich white men.
4) If every man has a vote, then every man is equal. Or at least they have to be treated as equals by anyone who wants their vote. Which is why democracy both presupposes and demands equality.
5) You're trying to conflate democracy with rights and freedom. Democracy has nothing to do with rights and freedom. America literally began as a slave country, and democracies tend to become increasingly socialist as they expand voting rights.

He held slaves who were a different color of skin than him, he was a racist. It's not too bad because 90% of Americans were racist back then. We don't know the view of black Americans really because a large contingent of them weren't legally able to read or write.
Given the actual evidence, it sure looks like Blacks, Hispanics, and American Indians/Alaska Natives are congenitally less intelligent than Asians and Whites.
OR... Are our country's public schools doing a spectacularly crappy job of educating our children - our nation's future - due to widespread systemic institutional racism and only some demographic groups have figured out how to partially rise above that travesty on their own? Hmmm...???

A civil engineer, an high performing athlete, a defense lawyer, a percussion musician, and a visual artist don’t exactly have the same or similar levels of intelligence on whatever said field or line of work.
Intelligence in one area doesn’t exactly translate to intelligence in another.
What those numbers say is that Asians and whites generally score better on standardized tests.
What they also say is something much bigger, that you’re not looking at (aside from race) is that the American education system sucks. But you’re not looking at it that way.

Sally Hemmings was purportedly the half-sister of his dead wife and may well have resembled her.

1) Thomas Jefferson wrote the Declaration of Independence, but it was edited by a committee of the Continental Congress. Almost all of this editing was the removal of Jefferson's condemnation of slavery. Otherwise very few words were changed. Here is a link to his original draft...
3) Thomas Jefferson's wife died in 1782. Sally Hemings' first child wasn't born until 1795. Even if Jefferson was sleeping with Sally, he wasn't sneaking off from his wife to be with her.
4) Sally Hemings was whiter than Shaun King. She was also Martha Jefferson's half-sister.
27 years ago, the Indian immigrant population was very low in the U.S. (Asian was just East Asian). I wonder if there are any updates in the book discussing South Asian success despite dark skin color.

An educated person. A well-informed person. A person who notices the world around him. What Murray said is correct, and there has never been any reason to doubt it.
You read that quote from Murray in the OP, right? I don't know what I can add to that. Either you think preserving the American Creed so that you can be judged as an individual is important, or you don't.
