Biden's job approval numbers are currently above 50%.
Trump by contrast never once had job approval numbers on RCP or 538 above 50% during his entire presidency. If its Trump v Biden again, Biden will start strong favorite.
Of course the GOP could avoid this by picking a less tainted candidate but it doesn't appear their base has any realistic judgement of what went wrong in 2020.
