Act like leaders. Put together some bipartisan bills that both sides agree on, and look like the heroes for suggesting them.
Poll your base-not just the republicans, but the independents that voted for you. Find out what they want....and when you can, deliver.
Find out what they could tolerate for compromises. Score them by how much it affects you. These are your "I will trade this, for that" with the Democrats. Score them. Find out the same from the Democrats. You are going to find some things that your constituents want badly enough that they value a lot-and find something that the Democrats value a lot, but that you dont. Its time to find the best deal. Things your side wants, and you give them something you dont care about as much that they want a lot. These are win-win deals.
We've lost the ballot box as evidenced by the last election.
Is that why Republicans in Georgia etc. are trying to suppress the vote?
