Rodney King tried that and it didn't do much.

But there's room to say that perhaps without Chauvin kneeling, Floyd would have lived. So I'm 70/30 because if the jury convicts him on manslaughter, I can at least see how they got there.

It makes very little difference at this point. The news media, the politicians and the rioters have tainted this trial beyond all possible expectation of legitimacy. If the jury rules "not guilty on all charges" then he'll go free and Minneapolis will get the hellscape they repeatedly voted for. If they find him guilty on even one charge, the case will be appealed and there's a very good chance that the higher courts cut Chauvin loose over this ludicrous display.

What do you think is in Judge Cahill's head? Is he with your 70/30 or 100 not guilty with me?

From my seat on the outside of all this it may look like the coward's way out, but i am not in their shoes so i am not going to judge. It's not my house or my life on the line.
+1.

Not just them either, their family, friends, will either suffer the same fate, or will have to discontinue associating with the juror.
Aren’t juror’s identities kept a secret?

It was smart announcing the verdict early and then waiting for the frozen water bottles to melt.

Rodney King asked if we all just can't get along at the end of the big riots, from what I understand. I don't think anyone knew proactively that the riots were going to happen.

And yes, I think if Floyd's family came out with a heartfelt plea for passionate protest with no burning and theft, I think that will make a difference to people who feel passionately angry but won't make a difference with those who just want electronics.

And there ARE a lot of people who are angry and hurt. But don't want a new TV.

Considering what the media referred to as peaceful protests last summer it would be easy to see how any plea for peaceful protests by the Floyd family could be misinterpreted as a call for rioting.

Me too, but when I watch sports debate shows, they often have a black sports analyst and a white sports analyst, and when they discuss something about racism the white guy often says something like "I'm going to defer to you, because I'm not in a position to understand what its like to be black" etc.
So I'm just concerned that in a jury room, white jury members may just blindly agree with whatever black jury members say....
