I agree. I think the manslaughter charge would be fair. But I'm betting murder 2 because the jurors don't want to be murdered or blamed for mass riots.
Murder 2 is the highest thing they could find him guilty of. Since there was clear disagreement among the jurors, it doesn't seem a full day of deliberation they'd end up with the highest charge.
White jurors have to go along with whatever black jurors say, or they'll be called racist....
I mean if anyone finds out which juror went which way in the case of a hung jury it’s pretty easy to know one of the other jurors leaked it so I would bet pretty hard that never happens
No way it’s hung or not guilty. They likely didn’t even deliberate much and just agreed to convict him due to the repercussions to them and society of a not guilty verdict.
Yep.
Any juror that says "not guilty", will have to go around for years, if not forever, in fear of their life. Their home will be attacked, possibly fired from their job, denied employment for others, life ruined, if not ended. Not just them either, their family, friends, will either suffer the same fate, or will have to discontinue associating with the juror.
What do you want to bet that the thugs will riot and loot no matter what the charge is? Chauvin gets hit with Murder 2.
"Yo homies, Burn it down! lets get some flat screens and sneakers first!"
I think in the case of murder two you’ll have two camps of people rioting. Some who were mad murder one didn’t happen even though it couldn’t and another camp celebrating the verdict
A statement from Floyd's family at this point would probably be helpful, asking for peaceful protest and not to sully this cause with grabbing merchandise and dancing off with it.
This quick verdict makes me think he'll be found guilty on all charges. The discussion among the jurors was probably something like "do you want your house getting burned down" "No do you?" "No, so let's just find him guilty on all charges and get back to our lives".
From my seat on the outside of all this it may look like the coward's way out, but I am not in their shoes so I am not going to judge. It's not my house or my life on the line.
