They had real power and access and they refused to use it...and now they put on a political show.
It is meaningless and frustrating.
Maybe they didn't anticipate the swift and forceful pushback that immediately followed the passage of this atrocity. They've gotten away with supporting a regressive party for years with no consequences, and probably figured they could continue to do so. But the times, they are a changing. And big business has finally started to get that and adjust accordingly. I see this as a good thing.
That's not overreach; that's the GA state legislature fulfilling it's US Constitutional mandate. Per the US Constitution, each state's legislature has jurisdiction over federal elections. How do so many people not know that?
Article II, Section 1, Clause 2
Each State shall appoint, in such Manner as the Legislature thereof may direct, a Number of Electors, equal to the whole Number of Senators and Representatives to which the State may be entitled in the Congress: but no Senator or Representative, or Person holding an Office of Trust or Profit under the United States, shall be appointed an Elector.
Article I, Section 4, Clause 1
The Times, Places and Manner of holding Elections for Senators and Representatives, shall be prescribed in each State by the Legislature thereof; but the Congress may at any time by Law make or alter such Regulations, except as to the Places of choosing Senators.
You keep making the same irrelevant point to dismiss what the state has actually done and is doing to suppress voters.
It's not an irrelevant point. What you're failing to comprehend is that GA brought their election laws in line with the US Constitution's requirements for federal elections. The state legislature has jurisdiction over federal elections. Period.
Like I said, if you and others don't like that, you all can try to get a new US Constitutional Amendment passed to change that fact. The Constitution has been Amended many times to change what the majority thought should be changed, 27 times in fact.
You have a lot of work to do. Better get to it! Here's what it takes to Amend the US Constitution...
No, I explained what happened. You are being disingenuous. Just say that you support suppressing votes.
Just because you “explained what happened” does not mean you explained it correctly. Oh, and to get this off the table, I am not for suppressing votes of my own people.

The MLB should be supported as much as possible for opposing this outrageous example of Government Overreach!
