Have you ever been in a high stress situation like being a cop? I think it's highly likely she was so nervous that she didin't know she had her pistol in her hand.
Exactly what happened, or she’d have yelled gun instead of taser.
Even with all the preparations for riots, Minneapolis seems unable to stop or contain even minor rioting such as the Brooklyn Center stuff. What’s going to happen when the large-scale rioting gears up after the Chauvin trial?
My other thought was you have a 26-year veteran with some standing in the police force, so she gets on scene and takes over the arrest from a much larger male cop, probably thinking I’ve got seniority here bub, move over. The criminal sees a 48 year old lady is trying to arrest him, so basically shrugs her off and the first thing she does is go for a weapon. Is it time to acknowledge that having greater physical strength is a factor in some occupations? A 48 year old woman generally is not going to be able to subdue a 20-something year old criminal and will have to rely on a weapon much sooner. There are out of shape males just as well, but the average strength of a male cop is going to be much higher than a female.
Personally, after seeing the D.C. taser death with the guy half hanging out of the car, if the little guy managed to fight me off and get in his running car, I would have let him go and just met up with him back at his house. I’m not about to be drug down the street by a tazed guy with his foot stuck to the accelerator.
Female police often do not get the same respect from suspects and the public.
Once again, remember there wouldn’t be riots in the first place if police actually did their job and stopped killing black folks. How many more black individuals have to be killed by cops before something changes?
All the other countries with black citizens have cops who can make arrests without killing people, so obviously the American police force is a big part of the problem. But ya, let’s ignore the obvious police problem and only focus on the protests.
Once again, remember there wouldn’t be riots in the first place if police actually did their job and stopped killing black folks. How many more black individuals have to be killed by cops before something changes?

Any source for that number? Do you have any clue about the history of the oppression and racism in the U.S. court system agains people of color? White individuals on the other hand receive fair trials and justice, they’re privileged, they’re listened to, heard etc. It gets old.
More riots on the way - police shooting in Minneapolis suburb
There were always going to be more riots. This just made them happen a bit sooner.
There's a lot of problems with the shooting of Dante Wright. The biggest one is that he had a warrant out for his arrest for daring to exercise his 2nd Amendment rights. Minnesota police caught him with an unlicensed gun. He ran. They put out a warrant for the kid. He gets pulled over later one and the warrant comes up and it all goes to hell.
If you take them out of the equation, there are three things that would result in George Floyd and Dante Wright not being killed:
End the War on Drugs.
End the War on Guns.
Everyone everywhere DOES NOT resist arrest.
You'd save a whole lot of lives by just doing those three things.
The young man (as he's old enough to vote and clearly not smart enough to pull out) knows that when you resist arrest things bad things can happen. Why didn't he just do what he was told to do? Hasn't he seen the news in the past year?? Why didn't you just register your tag like every other person?
However, he did have a warrant out and he knew it. He clearly was not a productive member of society at the age of 20 with that type of warrant out.
The cop-She clearly had her gun out the entire time (if that's who's body camera film we are watching with the gun front and center) so there's NO WAY she could have been confused about her gun and her taser.
They BOTH are at fault.

Police failed in protecting Wrights Constitutional rights in a huge way, and they actually directly contributed to violating his rights.
