Which should still have someone in it that has experienced and lived the military life.
To be honest, the military life is a different world than the civilian life. Only one who was active duty and no longer active duty understands those issues.

The present acting Secretary of the Army, is a former Army NCO who finished Ranger School and later got a PhD in economics from U. Chicago. The guy before him served in the 75th Ranger Regiment in Afghanistan, and the guy before him was a West Point grand and infantry officer with the 101st Airborne in the Gulf War.
Christine Wormuth is a career bureaucrat who never served in the military.

Well isn't that special. She's about as qualified for her new position as Willie Brown's former paramour, the Libertine Ms. Harris is for President. The Harris administration just gets better every day. Next thing you know they'll be issuing little white flags as part the standard equipment for all memebers of the armed forces.
