On a personal level, one of the guys I used to work with is now medically retired after his arm shattered from a baseball bat after a failed taser attempt

Why didn't they just shoot the knife out of his hand, or use a bean bag gun? A warning shot would have startled him. It was two police officers against one so they could've tackled him. Why didn't they just let him go? Knives are a part of growing up.

Damn that was scary. It shows just how fast a situation can go horribly wrong. The guy was big and that taser did nothing. I wonder if he was on something?

What is so bad about stopping and putting ones hands up as ordered?

This looks to be another case where the cops were trying to nice and going out of their way to not up their use of force but in the end it was the guy or the officers life.

When do the riots start?

People don’t understand that the average person can cover 21 feet within seconds. Hence the name 21-foot-rule

The max effectiveness for the taser is 10-15 feet for BOTH prongs to connect. You better make the shot because taser is not a self-reloading weapon. You miss the shot or if only ONE prong connects, and the knife-guy will be on top of you.

This video demonstrates why knife vs taser is never a good idea

Why’d they wait so long to shoot him? He was on her with that knife. She should have filled him full of lead before he got anywhere near that close. She was dumb and lucky.

Did Lebron James post the cop’s pick to say he’s next?

I guess her partner didn’t want to accidentally shot her

If you're a hood rat, sure. For the rest of us, not so much.

You are completely detached from reality.

...unless you have a partner there as backup with a gun? This three on one situation it was perfectly reasonable to try with a taser first. Problem was just in the delay of the other two when he got up after.
