With more than half the country now vaccinated and with massive amounts available to anyone, with cases and death plummeting, and with a huge pent up demand to return to normal, should ALL covid restrictions be lifted in the USA?

This includes mask mandates, crowd restrictions, etc. etc.

Obviously, anyone who feels they need to wear a mask or stay home indefinitely would be able to, but should ALL government mandates be removed?

If you said "no," When, or under what circumstances should they be removed? Or do you wish to see them continue forever?

Why? What will be different in June or July?

More vaccine distribution to the general public. Most states only opened it up to everyone less than a month ago.

What percentage of the general public doesn't have access right now?

You just can't save some people from themselves. Let freedom ring.
What about the people who refused to lose weight and exercise, thus overwhelming the hospitals? The virus was always going to be here permanently. It was a matter of buying time to develop therapeutics, vaccines, and our health care system. The months between when the virus emerged in China to when China informed the world--the virus was being seeded nearly everywhere. Eradication was never an option. Had China done the right thing....who knows...we might still have a problem because this virus spreads like fire and hides itself well.

This idea that 'if only the dumb freedom lovers would have obeyed....' is silly. Remember, half the population was out there manning the grocery stores and slaughterhouses, power grids and Amazon warehouses...so the laptop class could quarantine in comfort. The virus still spread among them and they were required to wear masks. The only solution was to manage/minimize overall harm. So yes, we need to open up. The fabric of society is being ripped apart by altering normal human interaction to this degree, for this long. Not to mention the hundreds of millions plunged into starvation...

Yes. Most are illegal, anyway, and never should have been implemented.

BTW, these measures aren't ultimately about a virus. Y'all know that, right?

Good post.

The vaccine has been made available to those who are higher risk for quite some time so I do think it’s time to open up fully and get back to normal.

Should those who want to end all COVID restrictions/stop wearing masks/keep wearing masks/open up everything/get or don't get a vaccine just stop whining about doing so and starting umpteen threads about it? I vote yes.

Most of you are already doing whatever you damn please anyway, so carry on.

The restrictions should be eliminated for people who are vaccinated. Once everyone has the ability to get vaccinated, they people who are not vaccinated should have some restrictions based on high risk places where they could infect other people some of whom could die. The high risk people are also the ones who may not have a strong response to the vaccine. They have the right to nit be put at risk.
