True liberals should already have a built-in skepticism of a surveillance state anyway, especially when it either rewrites or circumvents the constitution.

Perhaps you were aiming this at leftists rather than liberals? Or perhaps fringe elements of both sides, since at some point they make a circle and meet at some point where surveilling citizens is not just OK, but necessary.
