The OP is pointless post also, as if everyone who fought owned slaves, lol. I still cannot believe just how simple minded people are when it comes to a complex event like the US Civil War and the events leading up to it.
But also get that in former Soviet countries, where the simple minded sum up the Russian Revolution as "some poor people who could not get jobs and were mad at the rich", totally ignoring the complexities that led up to it.

What were the causes of the Civil War? Why did the South secede?

It's not pointless. A U.S. state celebrating men who led troops into war against our country should not be tolerated. We don't put up statues to Osama bin Laden because he was an sworn enemy of our country. The same is true of Stonewall Jackson--he was also a sworn enemy of the United States. He waged war against us at the cost of hundreds of thousands of American lives. He deserves no more honor than bin Laden does.
And then the Honorable US army wiped out native Americans stole their land and put the last ones alive on reservations. We even put the butcher Grant on US money.History is remembered in different ways by different people.People who died should all be remembered not erased as if they never existed. We can learn from all of them.

Good point. It's interesting how those who decry the "treason" of the Confederates for going to war with the United States also curse the same United States and it's military for waging war against the Indians.
I live in SC and have never celebrated whatever this day is. My family both owned slaves and were slaves themselves. I don't find celebrating Confederate whatever to be anymore or less different than anyone else celebrating a different holiday. If it offends you, don't go and celebrate.... my guess is you don't live in SC and therefore don't need to worry about it.
