In the last 30 minutes, the news has broken that the Colonial Pipeline has shut down. It originates in Houston, Texas and delivers 45% of refined petroleum products (gasoline, diesel, jet fuel, heating oil ++++) to the North Eastern Coast, including Washington DC & New York. 100+ MILLION Gallons per day.

Guess I'll be looking at much higher gas prices over the next few weeks. Oh well.

Cyber attack shuts down top U.S. fuel pipeline network - Reuters, May 8, 2021

Top U.S. fuel pipeline operator Colonial Pipeline has shut its entire network, the source of nearly half of the U.S. East Coast's fuel supply, after a cyber attack that industry sources said was caused by ransomware.

The company transports 2.5 million barrels per day of gasoline, diesel, jet fuel and other refined products through 5,500 miles (8,850 km) of pipelines linking refiners on the Gulf Coast to the eastern and southern United States.

If you have a vehicle, live in the North or Atlantic with nothing better to do today .....
You might consider filling your vehicle with fuel.

You may be lucky enough to just pay higher prices..... or it could be a lot worse than that.

Good for you and hope you are “ fine”.
Some of us remember what it was like to not be able to buy gas. Amazon can deliver anything you need because they have Magic Vehicles that never use fuel. Trains, buses, Uber, Cabs and planes don’t use fuel, so they will be fine. All is good with no nasty pipelines.

Not sure if you are being sarcastic/facetious etc.?

Still you have to be inferring what happened with the Pentagon and other Government agencies hacking of last year BY RUSSIA that came to light and VERIFIED. Found to have gone on for perhaps YEARS. Putin denied it of course. Then it was pin-pointed to be Russia then.
We live in such a world ..... Russia is not a saint under Putin and at his direction as a Communist power with aspects added for Capitalistic ventures of its elite as China did .... China is no saint either from within stealing our tech and hacking perhaps over the years along with others.

Still President Trump still tried to deny was Russia (which was verified again) and Conservatives still downplayed it on C-D in favor of it had to be China as Trump kept pushing it to.

Of course we do not know yet with this pipeline now .... just I always remember how even on C-D... when a Conspiracy does not match reality.... it gets downplayed by those who promoted the Conspiracy all along as not convinced and a former President (at least till Aug) who also did such.

At least it was not a sabotaged busted pipeline that would take much more time to fix. Just shows how fragile our infrastructure is and can be.... .even just being prone to hacking that is enough to do damage to our economy.

I am waiting for a Conspiracy Theory on the Far Right side.... that says something like --- " Biden and Dems to blame for Pipeline hacking to take heat off blame for rising oil/gas cost as their fault". I jest but still..... I would not be surprised if a thread popped up on C-D using a link like from the - Daily Mail UK hyping such a Conspiracy Theory.....

Hubby has filled up our cars, his motorcycle, the lawn tractor, and all of our large gas cans this afternoon. Once bitten, twice shy. I’ll even take my old Mustang down to the pump and top her off today. It sucks when gas dries up or goes $4 a gallon.
