Even more impressive than that, the northern hemisphere has cooled 0.69C since February 2020, going from 0.74C to 0.05C above average in April. The entire planet is now at -0.05C below normal.

The University of Alabama-Huntsville is a "questionable extreme right" source? This information comes from NASA and NOAA satellite microwave sounding units, which provide more complete coverage of the globe, and are more accurate since they are immune to things like urban heat islands and poor siting of ground based weather instruments. This is absurd. I hate to break it to you, but droughts have been happening in that area for at least 1,000 years. This is a current Palmer Drought Index map.

Compare that to July, 1934.

In the past 200 years, there were severe droughts in the four corners area from 1855 to 1865, 1886 to 1896, 1931 to 1940, and 1951 to 1961. Were those caused by "global warming" or "climate change"?

You're actually lucky though, as none of the modern drought periods has lasted over 10 years. 1,000 years ago in 1021, a drought started that made any modern drought look like a picnic, and lasted a full 30 years. Another one even more severe started in 1130 and lasted a full 40 years until 1170, another from 1240 to 1265, and another that started in 1360 and lasted 22 years until 1382.

Since none of those past, more severe droughts could have been caused by humans, what makes you so sure this one is?

Since 2015 there have only been two months out of 72 months below average. I don't want higher taxes or hurt the economy to stop climate change but the numbers you are quoting are fake.

I came to post the 40-year drought. You did a better job presenting it than I would have.

Good job.

Overall, we rate NoTricksZone a pseudoscience blog based on the publication of climate change disinformation opposing the consensus of science.

We are in a 50 year solar minimum. The temps are projected to continue downward, which kind of pokes the AGW balloon with a big pin.

If only libs would focus on real problems, rather than imagined ones, think of what we could do!

I have nothing against the left being concerned about climate change. If we had just maintained the status quo all these years we'd still be burning coal and natural gas and wouldn't have wind and solar now being some of the most inexpensive ways to generate electricity despite all the whining about subsidies by republicans over the years. Embracing new technology is good. Eventually our species will be carbon neutral, thanks to progress. I might think the left over-reacts about how bad that it is or going to get, using every cold front, heat wave, and drought and calling it "climate change" when it's NOT CLIMATE CHANGE, but still I respect the progress we have made on trying to be more environmentally conscious.

CO2 levels are rising and CO2 causes a greenhouse effect. This is simple science and if you can't understand this, I don't know what else I can say. That said, we have a long way to go before CO2 levels become a major problem... we will be a carbon neutral species by then. We are making steady progress, not too fast, not too slow. Also, I would argue a 5 degree rise in global temperatures would be a good thing, given how much landmass is in arctic areas, and how much people flock to warm locations like Florida. We are not going to cause a runaway greenhouse effect.. thanks to progress in reducing carbon emissions.

As for extreme weather, there has always been extreme weather. Averages are just that... averages.

“Global Surface Temperatures Plummet 0.75C Since 2016.”

Hmm.....while Trump was President.
Surprised that Biden hasn’t jumped on this to take credit for it already.

This is what is really happening and how the information posted is misleading. You have to understand the science of what is happening to understand the nuance of this particular event.
https://www.carbonbrief.org/factchec...ply-misleading

From the article:
"It should be clear by now that the modest decline in temperatures in the past few months is a normal reversion after the end of the El Niño event. It has relatively little impact on the longer-term warming trend, which is the most scientifically relevant metric of climate change."

Also from the article:

"In reality, 2014, 2015 and 2016 have been the three warmest years on record not because of a large El Niño, but because of a long-term warming trend driven by human emissions of greenhouse gases.

The modest decline in temperatures in recent months from the peak of the El Niño event is completely in line with what has happened during past large El Niño events and was expected by scientists."
