The American Booksellers Association apologized Wednesday for a “serious, violent incident” in which it promoted a book about gender dysphoria that critics considered “anti-trans.”
The New York-based nonprofit that represents independent bookstores faced criticism after including Abigail Shrier’s book, “Irreversible Damage: The Transgender Craze Seducing Our Daughters,” in its July “white box” mailing sent to 750 of its member bookstores, Publishers Weekly reported Thursday.
The book, published last year by Regnery, tackles what Ms. Shrier describes as “transgender politics” and argues that the “trans epidemic” is a “social contagion” that’s particularly harming to teenage girls.
So now a marketing blurb in a mailer to booksellers is considered a violent act.
QUOTE FROM OP LINK: https://amp.washingtontimes.com/news...mpression=true "An anti-trans book was included in our July mailing to members,” the organization said. “This is a serious, violent incident that goes against ABA’s ends policies, values, and everything we believe and support. It is inexcusable. We apologize to our trans members and to the trans community for this terrible incident and the pain we caused them. We also apologize to the LGBTQIA+ community at large, and to our bookselling community." [end quote]
First it was the ALA (American Library Association) coming out against the Little House books, https://www.chicagotribune.com/enter...626-story.html and now this! And people wonder why I insist on keeping "traditional books" instead of switching to a Kindle (or whatever)?! I now regularly browse the Better World Books looking for pre-2000 novels that I might have missed because, in my opinion, the huge majority of post-2000 novels are so "woke" that they disgust me.
P.S. I do admit that saying that "No people lived there, just Indians" IS racist, but the word "people" was changed to settlers in 1953 with, I think, Mrs. Wilder's approval, plus I doubt very many kids now will read the "original" version as I would also think that most of those pre-1953 books are probably mostly in collections and not kept on a child's bookshelf.

cowardly insipid wokies have completely given up on actual literature.
OOPS. Guess you will have to go to YouTube to see it now! And, btw, as this is a PICTURE Book obviously aimed to kids about five years old, why in the world would it be age restricted?!!
And, btw, there are several links that in which a reader shows each page, but you have to have a lot of patience as these videos average about ten minutes long, I think.
