But unfortunately, that is not what happened. Many vaccinated people were still in panic mode and still kept wearing masks. But the unvaccinated took off their masks and roamed around maskless both indoors and outdoors without a care in the world. And that is why this variant is spreading like wildfire. So now we have to treat adults like children and mandate masks for everyone because it's abundantly clear that the honor system is no good!
It was a dumb idea. They knew this was going to happen. Anybody who knows human nature and American culture should have known.

If Vaccinated people start getting hospitalized we'll have no choice.

I respectfully disagree... i think the covid restrictions implemented (masks and social distancing) once business' started to open back up as early as late June or early July in 2020 proved that we could keep business' open and be safe(r) at the same time. I think that would be the route to go if things start to get real bad again.. We can't simply shut everything down... I know there is an argument that we saved many lives doing this but we know so much more now than we did then it seems we shouldn't have to go to that extreme again!

Fingers crossed it does not come to that!

That's the frustrating thing. Back in June, the US declared victory so fast. Did they really think the Delta variant wasn't going to come here to the US? It came from China early last year, so why didn't they think the Delta variant wouldn't? And I understand the CDC's change in guidelines to remove masks, but it did seem a bit premature. Not sure why they didn't want to wait until more people were vaccinated.

This whole mess has been caused by another round of idiocy. And that's the frustrating part... we're about 16 months into this pandemic and health experts and political leaders are still making the same mistakes over and over. I don't get it.

I’m not going to lose it. America voted for an idiot and we deserve every bit of it.

Biden ran on defeating covid, yet any idiot could’ve told you the virus isn’t going away just because you create glorified booster shots that are non-FDA approved that kids 12 and under can’t even take and developing countries can’t even get.

What we have is a fiasco, and it’s fitting that Democrats are responsible for it.

I'm glad to live where lock downs will not happen... the Free State of Florida. If you wanna be a shut in or have your essentials delivered to your door... you can, your choice... or you can live your life as you see fit. How is that a bad thing? Shouldn't it be like that everywhere in the USA? Freedom of choice? my life my body?

85% of those who are considered high risk (over 65 or chronic health condition) have been vaccinated in Florida and then add those who have anti bodies. The vast majority of cases are younger folks. Numbers of deaths from covid are stable and have been for quite a while. Summer is the 'typical' time when people go indoors to escape the heat and humidity.

Time to live life and realize covid is with us forever, just like any other virus.

I think that's the problem. Not only has it been so hot this month, but damn, did we get a lot of rain. Usually in July, I go outdoors a lot because I embrace the hot weather! But this year, I hibernated in July due to all the rain and thunderstorms. And I'm sure many other people did too and that's why the virus is spreading the way it is. Hopefully if weather is nicer is August, more people will start going outdoors again and hopefully will slow the spread a little bit.

Besides the personal story told in the link above, do you have any unbiased source for the hyperbole that I bolded? NO ONE has ever suggested that ALL the unvaccinated people will end up in the hospital -- but maybe you have an inside source with impeccable credentials?

Love the attitude. It's amazing when you think about it.... Nobody wanted to stay at home during the lockdown, nobody wanted to wear masks and now nobody wants to get vaccinated.

So if we shouldn't be mandated to do any of those things, how do you expect we end this pandemic? Apparently, you seem to know more than these health experts, so I'm very curious to hear your input on the matter!
