Funny, this would describe the Left from election night 2016 to election night 2020 to a tee.

In fact, many businesses in liberal cities were getting ready for violence on election night (by closing early and boarding up) just in case Trump won. Even liberals knew their side was going to riot if Trump had won.

One thing conservatives are not, unlike Leftists, are sheep. In fact, too many have their own opinions, which while admirable, makes us less cohesive as a group.
Trump said the election was rigged if he would lose in the 2016 election. He said the same thing before he lost to Biden.

Trump is always a winner and if he loses….it means it was stolen from him. Trump is never a loser.

You guys are being played by an egotistical narcissist…..but you just don’t see it.

People were scared of the events of 1/6 because people tried to overtake the Capitol in an effort to prevent the peaceful transition of power following a legal election. That should scare every patriotic American.

Exactly right. Trump claimed voter fraud for his loss in Iowa in 2016 - with no proof. Once again, he was projecting, telling you what he was going to do.

The only voter fraud in 2020 was concocted by the former guy himself.

I honestly wonder what his supporters on this board would think the U.S. would be like right now if Trump had succeeded. Once installed in power through unconstitutional means I predict that his corrupt regime would have run rampant over civilized society.

Do Trump supporters on this board believe in the U.S. Constitution? Should the Justice Department have done Trump's bidding?

The imagery of people who disagree with their policies and/or agenda. They don't want dissent. Group think only. Follow their mob.

Whitewash, no.
It certainly was not an insurrection though.
That's the problem.
What would you call a violent mob that was attempting to thwart the will of the people at the direction of a corrupt president?

Presidents should not try to strong-arm the DOJ, pressuring them to make allegations of a "corrupt" election when there was no significant evidence to support the allegations. Barr said so publicly then quit. In other words Trump wanted the DOJ to publicly lie and then he and his goons attempted to corrupt the counting of the electoral college votes that had already been certified by the states.

BTW, the mob also shouted "hang Mike Pence."

If Trump would have prevailed on January 6th by interrupting the constitutional process and (temporarily) blocking the certification, his presumed reign would have ended very quickly. The military is sworn to uphold the constitution, not the President. One way or another, Trump would be out of office within a day or two and Pence (or Pelosi) would have transferred power on January 20, just like it would have happened initially, but Trump would be either in custody, in a hospital, or worse. I wonder how many government officials would have opted to stand with Trump if his little coup plan had worked. Not many, maybe not any. This was a giant and risky act of desperation that was always doomed to failure -- a dangerous tantrum by a mentally unstable person. Trump and those who supported him, including those surreptitious supporters in Congress, are permanently branded as seditious conspirators and insurrectionists.

And it's this strange "quantum shift", more than any other event, that I want to see thoroughly examined; the "flip-flop", and the apparent nonchalance with which it was reported by the media, will arouse my suspicions until a closer examination of this event is made available.

Trying to overturn an election by use of violence should scare everyone. "A Republic, if you can keep it."
