We helped the Taliban by giving them modern tech.

We were attacked by Saudi Arabia, by Al Qaeda. The Taliban offered Bin Laden, but Bush rejected. We invaded, and 20 years later, this is the end result. It was never about fighting terror. In the process we created more terrorists. You think all the kids that lost family are gonna forget?

So this is the end result. It's a no-win situation.

When it comes to fighting terror, that never works. Imagine if you kill one ant, and 2 ants appear for every 1 ant you kill. That's what the war on terror is. Just a forever war that is never meant to end.

Military contractors love it.
There were no Taliban back then. That was the Afghan mujahideen. Some of them would end up being part of the Taliban, others would join the Northern Alliance.

The military that joe biden is in charge of? Please give tell us why?

Which military, the US or the afgan military, abovue you state it the "US military."

He owns all of it, period and end of story or full stop, which ever way you want to go.
Nonsense. He has the buck stops here responsibility but at the detailed level some of the major functions under him failed to function properly. No way all that equipment should have been left behind but that was not Biden... well down in his organization the military performed badly.

Thoughts?
Top military leaders such as Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin and Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Mark Miley have been focused on Democrat left top priorities for our military, which means first and foremost, making them progressive and woke.

This includes orders and funding to facilitate soldiers who want to fulfill their dreams of transvestites, including paying for the medical procedures and transforming the entire military into a cultural safe space for them to pursue these aspirations.

Also, the military ranks are being forced to participate in Critical Race Theory based training and reprogramming, which of course emphasizes the essential role of racism in all aspects of life, starting with the vilification of "white" people and the ending with the victimization of black people. This is as offensively divisive as anything they could possibly contrive - and that is not an accident.

Last week, the order came down from these woke jackasses that all American troops are being ordered to receive the experimental inoculation - which a very large number of them have opted not to get, for very good reasons. This is again intended to be divisive and to have a devastating affect on the the moral of our military, objectives which it has succeeded brilliantly in achieving.

There are of course many other similarly misguided, intentionally destructive and extremely foolish initiatives that these people have been focusing their time and attention on, like reducing the physical fitness thresholds for various roles that require extraordinarily high levels of strength and fitness, because this is their strategy for achieving "equity" between men and women in these jobs - even if it causes our military to fail in spectacular fashion.

Our greatest enemies are not foreign countries. Our greatest national security threats are not from without, they are from within. And the greatest enemy we have is the Democrat party and the woke leftist anti-American agenda that they are following with every intention of destroying our country.

This is how the Taliban ended up with that equipment and how this exercise has been a debacle of such scope and scale that it is hard to imagine how they could have handled it worse, even if they had tried. In fact, they did try. They are not liking the negative reactions they are getting from perspectives on this right now, but in terms of their "long game," this debacle was a huge success for them.

It is a cut and dry question, and your meandering points do not speak to it at all. It could have been an initiative undertaken under the Bush, Obama, Trump, or Biden eras. It is a simple question. Why when we spend billions on equipping "allies" do we not have control over the friggen equipment?!?!
Because our military and foreign policy "leaders" prioritized other (worthless) things to such a degree that they were ignorant and inattentive to these critical matters.

That is the correct answer, by the way.

20 years of American ego. We think we can buy democracy for people that have no clue and are not willing to fight for it.

Americans wanted us out, every president since Bush wanted to withdraw but the military influenced them to stay. They also wanted to keep a military force in Afghanistan. This thread is about what went wrong in Afghanistan, supposedly we beat the Taliban back in 2001 so what were we still doing there in 2021.

This was always a civil war, if the Afghans didn't want the Taliban in control they should have settled it not the US. Once again we went into a country knowing little about the country think we could impose our values on their system, we have seen this song before.

Our military never met a war they didn't think they could win, they are the last to admit reality. They only need more time, more troops, more equipment and they will win the day.
