This is really getting embarrassing. The people in charge apparently don't have much idea of what they are doing...

State Department hit by cyber attack, source says

Quote:
The State Department is the latest to fall victim to a cyber-attack and notifications of a possible serious breach were made by the Department of Defense Cyber Command, a source told Fox News Saturday.
Quote:
The news of the breach comes just weeks after a Senate Homeland Security Committee report rated the department’s overall information security program as a "D" – the lowest possible rating within the federal government’s model.
Quote:
The report found the department’s security to be "ineffective in four of five function areas" and highlighted the fact that "sensitive national security information" was at risk.

Names, dates of birth, and social security numbers used for passport vetting were among the sensitive information the committee’s report noted.

Russians. Who cares. It's all Russians. Even if it's some hacker from Mogadishu, it will still be Russians.

DOD too busy solving equity war, and our intel agencies are too busy chasing down fake hatecrimes and white supremicists to mess with this nonsense.

Biden Says Hack of US Shows Trump Failed at Cyber Security - Dec, 22, 2020

President-elect Joe Biden said a major hack of U.S. government agencies and companies isn’t being taken seriously enough by President Donald Trump and that he’ll prioritize strengthening America’s cyber defenses.

The attack “happened on Donald Trump’s watch,” Biden said Tuesday at a news conference in Delaware.“We can’t let this go unanswered.”

Biden: "The buck stops with me."

It could be a CYA by the State Department …. They are certainly not on the same page as the Defense Department. “We were Hacked” might just be their best Panic Excuse.
