I know that. I was saying that in order to get out with some semblance of a country left, the only way is to make a deal with the enemy or inflict enough casualties on them that they surrender. Therefore making a deal with the Taliban was the only way we could extricate ourselves from the country and possibly leave it in a better state than it was when we came there. We all know that wouldn’t last very long with that crew, but at least get our people out and get the weapons out or destroy them.
I'll take "Inflict enough Casualties for $1,000, Katy". In the spirit of the game show Jeopardy.
So why didn't Trump start removing equipment last year, do you have any idea the task to remove 20 years of equipment and how do you explain that to the Afghan military. Sorry but we know you're going to collapse so we need to remove everything now.
Once we started removing the first wave of people out this was going to collapse. We already had the same experience in Vietnam and Iraq, why do you think that this would turn out different. Too many military experts on here that know just how to run an evacuation.
I’m sure there was a better way than the way we did it. I’d settle for evacuating our citizens and letting our allies know they should do the same.

Our allies were getting theirs out, before Sleepy Joe awoke. His ice cream made him tired, no doubt.

I’m not sure that tactic works with a bunch of Islamic terrorists who don’t care whether they live or die. They did try at first, even carpet bombing the mountains hoping to get them in their caves, but no luck. The best we could do is stay there in perpetuity or leave with some semblance of a deal while taking ALL our own citizens and some of the people that helped us.

It is just like roaches, a continuous process. Good news is it does not take many troops to maintain, as our roach killers are very efficient.
The tunnel busting bombs , btw, are the game changer.
Biden is going to lose thousands of our citizens, no doubt. Plus tens of thousands of allies.
What part of it isn’t the timing of the withdrawal, it’s the complete and utter failure of Biden’s administration to perform the withdrawal with competence don’t you understand? Very few people are saying we should have stayed. Most sane people, though, are wondering how a supposedly competent POTUS managed to completely bungle it.
Compared to what?
We lost. How does a country lose a war and smoothly remove the people who helped them?
On top of that, a teacher rescued dozens of young girls by flying to the Mideast. They were marked to die for being educated while female, by the Taliban.
Biden will be remembered as the senile pedo who was as corrupt as they come and stole an election, helped commit crimes against humanity and helped send the country right down the crapper.
At least until the fascists rewrite history and then make him a hero like Stalin and Lenin.
19+ years w/o a 9-11 = mission accomplished. That is what post 9-11 wars were about. Not nation-building, not winning in a traditional way, they were about spraying regions for roaches, a/k/a jihadists. Killing future OBLs.
The key is to keep using roach spray, btw.
Russia was after traditional war victories-and that was their error.
This is the thinking that brought us a 20 year war, the endless search for terror brought to us by Cheney and Bush. There are probably more terrorists in Pakistan, no one views this as a success story and we were always going to fail in a country the size of Afghanistan.

No major attacks since 9-11-2001.
I am not concerned with quantity of terrorists, but rather their ability to organize as they did throughout the 90s leading to 9-11. The way to avoid organizing is to take the leadership out, knowing they get backfilled, but taking out keeps setting them back 5-10 years at a clip.
I also never view the war on terror as ending, any more than corps view their security departments (be they physical or IT btw) as "temporary". In both cases, solid investments.
I'll trade some tax dollars to avoid 9-11s.
