While it's sad that 240 died last week in Florida, other states such as Louisiana, Arkansas, and another (CDC website won't load, so I can't check) are averaging more.
Not to mention, when you look at the average per 100k, Oregon, Washington State, Texas, and quite a few other states (once again, I can't look them up) are doing worse than Florida right now.
It seems to be that Louisiana is the worst state right now, in the country.
Lousiana is ranked first in deaths per 100K.....at 1.37 and Florida is 3rd at 1.13. ....but in actual deaths (not per capita ) Florida wins...by a significant margin
Florida average 242 deaths per day for the last 7 days --- Louisiana averaged 63

I don't think your website is right. How can every other state have a daily average death in the 20's or 30's and Florida is at 240? When I looked at the CDC website last night, it said 8 people died yesterday, but the 7 day average was 240. I think your website mistyped that information. I wish the CDC website was working so I could look up the updated information.
This is why media trust is at an all time low. They're supposed to report the news, not make it up.....
:
I agree. That was a terribly misleading headline.
But I also noticed something in this so-called news story from Fox:
"Among others who circulated the Herald report include CNN contributor Frida Ghitis, Florida Politics publisher Peter Schorsch, and Rick Wilson of the disgraced Lincoln Project."
Disgraced Lincoln Project? Since when is the Lincoln Project "disgraced"? Clearly someone's opinion of the LP; why was it inserted in this "news" piece from Fox?

Florida did reach a peak of 219 deaths on Aug 10, but it has dropped significantly since then. Overall, FL has had ~43,000 deaths over the 17 months of this pandemic, which is around 85 per day.

Glad we can agree!
A member from the Lincoln Project has been accused of sex with a minor, including text messages and soliciting sex. Therefore, it has been considered 'disgraced'.

Here is a breakdown of average daily COVID-19 deaths and COVID-19 deaths per 100,000 people over the last seven days in all 50 U.S. states and Washington, D.C. The data was last updated Aug. 27. So yesterday was not included.
August 20 - 315
August 21 - 0
August 22 - 0
August 23 -464
August 24 - - 6
August 25 - 9
August 26 - 906
1700 divided by 7 -- 243 per day......(242.8)
As explained with this thread -- Florida is not recording daily deaths really -- so that's why averages are a better tool. Might be only 8 today -- maybe 0 all week end and then BAM Tuesday 800.
Regardless of media bias, people are dying from this virus. And it is worldwide. Loosen up your tinfoil hat and stop getting your information from ignorant people.

Woah! Woah! Calm down..... It'll be ok..... Now, lets discuss this in a rational manner.......
Misinforming the public has been a big part of the problem with COVID. Left and right, the story always changes. So, it's important that our media be as accurate as possible. Though, they only ran a headline like this because they wanted to make Governor DeSantis look bad. If they were in New York, they wouldn't have run a headline like this, guaranteed.
