A person can look forward AND recognize that the forward trajectory we are on is not promising. The two are not mutually exclusive.

Really ludicrous statement right there. What's happening today is nothing:

2020 - our country was shut down and the economy in collapse, because of the pandemic

2009 - the worst financial collapse since the Great Depression. Millions out of work.

2004 - mired in two wars, American soldiers coming home in body bags, with no easy way out

2001 - the worst attack on US soil since Pearl Harbor

1979 - US is humiliated by Iran holding our people hostage, inflation is rampant and we're at the mercy of OPEC

1975 - the US government is in disarray after the debacle of Vietnam and the scandal of Watergate

1968 - MLK and RFK assassinated. American cities in flames as antiwar and civil rights riots rage

No, relatively speaking, things are not bad right now.

We can't possibly answer this until the OP says exactly what they mean by "glory days". What does that even mean. You mention glory days and I just think of Bruce lol

I suppose the one problem is we are supposed to evolve and learn from our mistakes.

Indeed. But there's those idiots out there that will still make the same mistake expecting a different outcome!

The impending financial collapse hasn't even started and when it does it will be biblical.

Look up why the Fed can't raise rates and the real inflation rates
