It also shows how little Democrat leaders think of Americans. Democrat voters spoke loud and clear during the primaries that they did NOT want a cackling Marxist, but the Dems in charge hatched a plan to install her anyway.

The VP office by design is out of sight. The VP has few official duties, limited to presiding over the Senate and remaining on standby to take the big job. There is no mandate to become involved in policy or management of any individual federal function.

Except in this case, steps were taken early on to make sure Harris was elevated front and center - so much so that they were referring to it as the Biden/HARRIS Administration. They were clearly positioning her to get credit for the wonderful things the Biden Administration would do, and now that they see what a disaster he is, they are downplaying her.
