The green berets were training special forces under Col. Mamady Doumbouya.

Doumbouya has seized control of the country (Guinea) after gun fire was heard in the presidential palace. The Pentagon claims it was not aware saying:

"The coup is inconsistent with U.S. military training and education.” -Kelly Cahalan, spokesperson for US Africa command

The official line is that the coup plotters snuck out from a US base in the dead of night without alerting their American counterparts:

But on Friday, U.S. officials said they were investigating reports that Colonel Doumbouya and his fellow coup-makers had set off in an armed convoy from that same base early on Sunday — raising the prospect that they slipped away while their instructors were sleeping.

However, US military officials were in the crowd celebrating the coup according to video footage. The speculation as to why the US would be involved is as follows:

“If the Americans are involved in the putsch, it’s because of their mining interests,” said Diapharou Baldé, a teacher in Conakry — a reference to Guinea’s huge deposits of gold, iron ore and bauxite, which is used to make aluminum.

President Conde had held power since 2010 until this ousting and was said to be anti-democratic.

So, how many of you know where Guinea is?

We should probably investigate whether Joe Biden has ownership stock of any Chinese mining interests that move into the area. After all, we see how Afghanistan and their lithium is getting ready to play out.
