Maine, 7.51 per 100,000
Maine doesn't have a lot of black folks, overall.

Heck, Maine doesn't have a lot of people, overall, compared to other states.

As of 2022: 1,359,677

That definitely makes a difference.

Then explain this. How does Missouri (Black population 11%) have the highest Black homicide rate in America, but Virginia, with a much larger Black population, has a lower Black homicide rate, and a much lower homicide rate over all?

Alaska doesn't have alot of Black people and its Black homicide rate has been cracking the top 10 a few times this past decade.

New York and Connecticut, on the other hand, have alot of Black people, and low Black homicide rates.

Looked at my home state. Ranked 26. Not happy about that. We have many middle-class+ black people, but we also have Newark and Camden.

The national average is 18.18 per 100,000. New Jersey's Black homicide rate is 13.82 per 100,000. It could be better. However, it's below the national average.

States with Black homicide rates above the national average (in order descending by Black homicide rate):
Missouri
Alaska
Indiana
Nevada
Illinois
Tennessee
Pennsylvania
Louisiana
Arkansas
Michigan
Wisconsin
Kentucky
Oklahoma
Ohio
Maryland
Arizona
Kansas
New Mexico
Colorado
South Carolina

The majority of young black people in the major Missouri cities are in drug gangs. Almost all of the murders are black on black.
Very few of the black people outside the major cities are ever in trouble. KC and St Louis have been run by Democrats for years. The rural areas are Republican. Most of those in the cities are arrested over and over and turned loose again and again.

Because of robberies and vandalism, there are few jobs left downtown in Missouri's major cities.
