17 US Missionaries and Families Kidnapped in Haiti, Times Reports

As many as 17 American Christian missionaries and their families, including children, were kidnapped on Saturday by gang members in Haiti’s capital of Port-au-Prince, The New York Times reported, citing security officials there.

The kidnapping happened as the missionaries were leaving an orphanage in the crisis-engulfed Caribbean nation, the Times said.

They were abducted from a bus headed to the airport to drop off some members of the group before continuing to another destination in Haiti, the report added, citing local officials.

A surge in gang violence has displaced thousands and hampered economic activity in the poorest country in the Americas. Violence spiraled after the assassination of President Jovenel Moise in July and an earthquake in August which killed more than 2,000 people.

No mention in the report about retaliation for the Administration giving Haiti migrants a hard time at the border or stealing earthquake funds.

Oh goodie, the march towards outdoing Carter as America’s worst president continues on. Biden is getting his own hostage crisis - yay. At least Carter didn’t have 100,000-200,000 people invading the country each month.

Well considering how we treated Americans in Afghanistan, these missionaries are doomed.

These idiots that go to these places know the risks.
Meanwhile American citizens on American soil are mostly ignored.
Take care of our own before you go running off to some other stupid country that hates us.
Morons.

Is there actual evidence of this or you just outlining your preference that news be sprinkled with blind conjecture presented as fact?

I have friends who went to Haiti after their last earthquake. They were on a sponsored relief trip with Doctors Without Borders and other organizations and had security. It’s a very dangerous place and no Americans should go without good security. Lots of good can be done right here in the US.

Aid has been donated to Haiti for decades and nothing has changed.
Haiti should be handed back over to the French so they can civilize it.

Make Haiti French Again!

Conjecture was en vogue during the last administration. I thought that's what the "C" in CNN stood for...

I'm probably solid ground on this. They are sick of Biden, Clinton and that whole team. They are tired of getting the shaft from America.

--------------------------------

Not sure some of you are claiming that Haiti has been super dangerous. I don't remember hearing much about extreme violence and travel advisories to Haiti. Obviously they are the worst off in this part of the world economically and leadership has been sketchy - but I don't recall them being known for danger - which is why missionaries travel there.

But they have gotten the shaft on multiple occasions from people that is supposed to help them - at least since I have been partially paying attention since 2010.
