I've bolded the key words in this bill. That is where the bulk of the money is going.

"To authorize funds for Federal-aid highways, highway safety programs, and transit programs, and for other purposes."

Name each and every one and who OWNS them.

Explain why I have to pay to fix YOUR state owned "deteriorating roads, bridges, airports and other infrastructure."

Why don't you hold hold YOUR local elected representatives to explain WHY they are so deteriorated?

Ask them what did THEY do with the maintenance money earmarked for such things.

I have asked this over and over and NEVER a response.

Says it all.
I would bet you could go around each state and find candidates for this bill same as this bridge in Kentucky, many of the poorer states just do not have the funds. Why they allow these bridges and highways to deteriorate to this point is a goo question but I doubt they have the income to maintain these dinosaurs.

NY has replaced several major bridges in the past few years like the Tappan Zee and Goethals, upgraded LaGuardia and JFK, added air trains but I don't see that poorer parts of the country can accomplish that.

When these bridges shut down it costs companies and impacts everyone.

Provide the vote by party. The "whole" Congress did NOT vote for it.

When dems pass bills when they have the MAJORITY, THEY are responsible. And visa versa.

"On January 28, 2009, the House passed the bill by a 244–188 vote.[15] All but 11 Democrats voted for the bill, but not a single Republican voted in favor"

If it does NOT get passed in the House it does NOT go to the Senate. It DIES!

"The Senate called a special Saturday debate session for February 7 at the urging of President Obama."

"All the Democrats voted in favor, but only three Republicans voted in favor"

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Americ...nt_Act_of_2009

Kinda blows you claim out of the water, doesn't it?
And in the 12 years since Republicans have done nothing to reverse it.
Kinda puts my claim back into the water doesn't it ?

Indeed. Many of the poorer states simply don't have the funds. Anyone who has driven coast to coast can tell you there is a drastic difference in the roads between some states.

Though I certainly can sympathize with those who live in states that are subsidizing the less productive states, safe airports, decent ports, good drinking water, .... impact all of us, not just the those who live where there is a decent tax base.

Two thirds of the nation's GDP is produced in areas that vote for Democrats. If they are wiling to subsidize the rest, why the objection?

Yes, I want Biden gone. Since Biden took office, the cost of beef doubled. Gas up past $3 since I started driving in TX. Everything takes forever because of supply chain disruptions. AND he thinks I need to pay more taxes. For what? For more inflation, failure, and garbage spending bills like this where half the money can't be accounted for? If this is what Biden's selling, his agenda ****ing sucks and I hate him with every bone of my body. And most importantly, I'm not buying it because the product you're selling sucks. And yes, for him to be gone, he needs to fail so miserably no one in their right mind votes D ever again.

Now that we have that out of the way, I've been consistent in demanding the Feds spend less money. Across the board. And considering the Federal Budget is bigger than Germany's ENTIRE GDP, and we get taxed in every way imaginable, there should have already been money in the bank for every single line item of that bill.

If there isn't, they need to start laying people off and cutting spending, like the rest of us in the private sector.

The Social Bill is the one they wanted.

This garbage bill is not the win Biden wanted, this should have passed months ago, piece of garbage that it is.

The democrat infighting stole the show on this one anyway.

Anytime you got Manchin for and AOC against, it ain't no win for the dimocrats.

This bill less anything and everything that remotely falls under "Other Purposes".

It's not about winning or losing, it's about doing what is good for the country and I don't care who takes credit. Social programs are lacking in this country compared to others.

Looking at the history of this bill is complicated, republicans were supportive a few months ago then changed their minds. Joe Manchin from West Virginia of all places worried about socialism, say it ain't so.
