The senate passed the bill to ban vaccine mandates (government ones) with a vote of all 50 republicans and 2 democrats.

Joe Biden is going to veto it. This opens up a whole can of worms for when republicans take back the house and senate next year.

No link yet but was mentioned in the White House press briefing.

If reactionaries get a veto-proof majority next year then the deadliest pandemic in human history is the least of our worries.

I feel like anything passed under the Congressional Review Act should be a unilateral procedure by the legislature, or at least subject to veto by the Judiciary, not the Executive, Branch.

A resolution saying the Executive Branch is out of line being subject to veto by the head of the Executive Branch kind of defeats the purpose of said resolution....

My body my choice. One shot does not fit all people and their circumstances.

It really is crazy to inject some junk into your body and it is only good for 6 months or so but then there are boosters to be had. Will we be seeing perpetual boosters forever? If Fauci and the Dems have their way we will be.

The damage that has been done when the Democrats turned the virus into a political weapon may never be undone but they sure love the power they have given themselves.

Biden will veto it because the vaccine is really the only thing that he can hang his hat on as a success and isn't it ironic that the vaccines were developed under the Trump admin... Fauci told us it could take years to get a vaccine, Trump challenged the drug companies to do it in months.

I think if the mandates are put into effect with a Biden veto, that how someone votes in 2022 will be a clear signal whether someone is in favor of freedom or is in favor of totalitarianism.

I can still remember way back as a kid
My grandpa ( coal miner ) and pop ( heavy construction ) R.I.P.
when discussing politics always said....
"All the people are ruled by a handful of crazies" .

The mandate was unconstitutional from the get go.

As far as I know it is we the people...........not I ...the president, mayor, city council....etc.....

A nationwide referendum..........ummmmm.......... how about the people.

By what possible measure are the vaccines a success??!!

They are not even 95% effective at preventing getting COVID, they do not prevent transmission of it, and a large percentage of those eligible to receive the injections have refused to do so.

Democrats are beginning to sour on the mandates. The courts most likely going to rule it as unconstitutional, and the American working public are not asking for them or want them. The whole idea was bad from the start.

Well, that's an argument for a parliamentary system where the executive serves the legislature. I've speculated before that it would be better for Congress to delegate more powers to the Speaker of the House instead of the President, effectively as a backdoor path to a Prime Minister. That would give Congress more direct control over its own laws.

It's ironic that Trump got booed recently for encouraging vaccination.

The ignorance of the GOP and MAGA extremists is epic. Why anyone wants to prolong this misery and death and force it on others totally escapes me.

This "mah body" garbage is just that. If it's your body, then WHY aren't the bodies of female Americans their own? Why can GOP religious extremist MEN, planted by Trump, MANDATE that women bear unwanted children? But it's also ok for mostly Republican MEN to feel it's ok to infect and potentially kill others around them. Because "mah body."

By refusing to get vaccinated you prolong this disease. Period.

Frankly I think the US medical system needs to just say - "If you aren't vaccinated with two doses by Jan 30th you will no longer receive medical care for covid." That is a mandate that will be necessary at some point to save the entire system.

I don't want to stub my toe and catch covid in the ER from some anti-vaxx extremist and die because they refused to get a vaccine.
