If Manchin is afraid that the child tax credit could be used by parents to buy drugs instead of going to their child with the opid crisis that was reported to be very bad there, then why doesn't make the child tax credit be some kind of a 'gift' card to be used for child care, etc. so it can't be used for anything else?

Manchin wasn’t afraid, he voted perfectly. You should be talking to the person I responded to

If only “probably” meant anything, lol. Feel free to post facts, though.

Polling data, what his state senators and reps are saying, etc. He went with WV, who go against the Dems and BBB.

Maybe it costs him, maybe not, but as educated guesses on which way his state would like him to go, he went the right way. If he represents MA, CA, IL, etc...yeah, colossally stupid move. But he reps for a state that is 70% negative on Biden and his agenda.

And I'd cheer for the "win" but every last dime they were going to spend on BBB will still get spent, it will just get shoved into various other bills piecemeal, probably with higher total cost when all is said and done. Only thing that doesn't happen is Biden getting a victory lap out of it.

Still my thoughts. That's Cy Vance's last day. His MO has always been to wait until after an election to indict criminals. The election happened on November 2, but the Grand Jury was still hard at work then. After all the work he's put into this, I doubt Vance will leave without showing us what he's been doing.

If I'm wrong, it will be even sweeter to see Trump taken down by Alvin Bragg ion the new year.

Not because he's guilty, mind you, but obviously because the Left would be using it as a cudgel to endanger any Presidential aspirations he may still be harboring. (Or even House Speaker?)

I hope you're right, and they're wrong.

Although, on the other hand, it would almost certainly completely backfire on the Left by perhaps making him a martyr.
He can be a martyr all he wants. There is a long list of martyrs throughout history who died in prison.

Of course he's not going to run. Even if he magically escapes prosecution on at least four fronts, as soon as he declares for office he has to account for all the money that the fools in his base are sending him as campaign donations. Right now he's got his legal bills being paid by the GOP, and every dollar that comes in goes into his piggy bank. He has yet to offer to help any of the people who are being subpoenaed and indicted because of him, which is status quo for the Great Orange Narcissist.

And they didn't burn the place to the ground. Would that BLM protesters were more like the 1/6 protesters, and went home at 6:00 PM.

Good. The goosechase has been on for 4+ years with nothing found on him. No reason to pay his own legal fees with such Dem nonsense.

Just because West Virginia (WV) voted Trump in 2020 and "isn't pro-Biden," doesn't mean Build Back Better (BBB) itself isn't popular in WV. You obviously didn't take what another poster said about West Virginians actually had to say about BBB. Many of the people in WV may need BBB but are too damn foolish to know any better beyond partisan views of "Democrats, bad. Republicans, good."

That said it seems Manchin is against BBB for his own selfish reasons. In a recent video, Brian Tyler Cohen released on YouTube, he has stated that Manchin hands his hands deep in Big Coal and Big Oil. In fact, he partially owns a fossil fuel company. This cake-eater on Melody Lane is not happy he would be subjected to a tax bill to fund it. He is just trying to frame it that we cannot afford it. What a deceitful liar. How can anyone defend that kind of scum?

Biden negotiates in bad faith all the time. The guy was lying, claiming his infrastructure plan would fund the construction of 500,000 EV charging stations. His plan would give $5 billion to states to build the charging stations. Wow, sounds great huh? If people would just look at what the dems say, and look into them, they will understand what liars they are.

From a respected green energy web site:
Estimating electric vehicle charginginfrastructure costs across majorU.S. metropolitan areas

To install just one charging station is $45,000 X 500,000 = $22,500,000,000. That is not counting the cost for the charging unit itself, or the costs to put up signs, cameras, etc... The slow 240V AC charging stations that can take a hour or more to charge your car, would cost $3,000 each, or an additional $1.5 billion. The Fast DC chargers will cost anywhere from $28,000 to $140,000 each, or $14 billion to $70 billion, on top of the $22.5 billion.

Don't worry about the $36 billion to $166 billion cost to install 500,000 charging stations, because Biden's plan is going to give states $5 billion to do it with.

What's in Biden's electric vehicle strategy? 500,000 new charging stations and more

The Biden administration released a federal strategy Monday to bring down the cost of electric cars. It includes 500,000 new charging stations, electric-friendly highways and domestic battery sourcing.

The $1 trillion infrastructure law President Joe Biden signed last month authorizes a nationwide network of charging stations and sets aside $5 billion for states to build them.
