When the government no longer represents and the people and is not responsive to their will, it is incumbent upon the people to replace that government by any means possible.

For example, if the dems cheat again in 2024, an insurrection would be a logical and expected response, as it would confirm that voting rights have been permanently rescinded by a despotic regime.
7 million more people voted for Biden. You are going to deny those people the vote…..because Trump told you to??

My biggest worry is a delusional population. You can’t reason with these people and you can manipulate them to do anything. You might think you are saving the Republic…..because you believe the lies.

Just remember the trend of liberal Democrats... they accuse others of that which they do themselves... and they are accusing Republicans of trying to steal an election.

Did you know that the 2020 vote regarding the entire number of people to voted - was a record high?

Not only was it a record high, there were approximately 20 million more people that voted in 2020 that the previous high record? Seems like a lot with one of the candidates making about 3 real campaign appearances.

So, you are still singing that old tune and spreading the lie? When will you wise up? It is amazing to us all, actual patriotic and reasonable citizens, how gullible some people are and how stupidly they will continue to do Trump's bidding.

We see a lot of quotations from Thomas Jefferson on these threads. Jefferson had no hand in writing the constitution since he was in France at the time. He was a strong voice, on paper, for overthrowing tyrannical monarchies -- against the British King and Parlaiment in our case, and in loud support of the French Revolution. He was a writer, not a doer. In contrast, James Monroe was actually wounded fighting at the Battle of Trenton. By Jefferson's example, the pen is mightier than the sword and that is perhaps his real legacy. Perhaps Jefferson's strongest feelings were in support of religious freedom and the separation of church and state, but his words are seldom quoted by right-wingers on that topic.

Yeah, I agree. But I don't think that applies to the contemporary US. Our system isn't perfect. But, our democratic institutions mostly work. Lot's of people on the left may get upset about racism, economic inequality and people on the right may get upset about big government and woke social elites. Those are important concerns. But, neither justify indirection from a moral standpoint or even a practical standpoint. Neither violence in June 2020 or Jan 6th accomplished anything productive.

The irony of writing the second sentence after writing the first...

When your go-to argument involves the popular vote tally in a presidential election, you really shouldn't then disparage the intelligence or sanity of those you're barking at.

Just sayin'.

Carrying out the plan in the Eastman memo, for instance?

Yeah. With this vile crooked admin and the blatant cheating going on in the last election right now would be a good time.

Regarding the US Civil war: Insurrection implies an uprising against an established government. The Confederate "government" was just made up BS and not a real government. As such, there was no uprising against it. In reality, the US Civil war was insurrection by southern states against the US government.

Something extraordinary would have to happen before a true insurrection would be justified today. While Democrats are Constitution-trampling imbeciles, there are plenty of remedies short of insurrection available to us. As they will find out in upcoming elections.

Could not Great Britain have said the same of the Rev. War? They didn't believe the United States to be legitimate. The Confederate government was established enough for many southerners to fight to defend it. And some southerners did not support the South and instead joined the North in fighting to overthrow the Confederate States of America.

what if either:

1 party had control (60+ in Senate) of Congress and the WH. or...

1 party had veto-proof control in Congress

and they chose to pass a crazy like law that said "the salaries of Congress shall consume the entire budget of the United States government".

Would that be legal - I'd think so. are they not in charge of appropriating the budget?

And so, the people would be forced to wait until the next election, after trillions of dollars had been given to 535 people.
