China's COVID Death Count is Likely Vastly Underreported (illegal, statistics, suspected)

I have always suspected that China is lying about their COVID death tally. Now it looks like Forbes is getting in on the topic with a three part series on China's dishonest reporting practices. The first part is linked below. This is a very good piece of journalism.
"The U.S. is apparently “guilty” of underreporting. According to the New York Times study, we probably undercount the prevalence of Covid deaths by about 17%. The Economist found a 7% discrepancy. They later increased their estimate of U.S. under-reporting to 30%.
China is another story. Its official statistics understate the Chinese Covid death rate by 17,000% (according to The Economist’s model).
In fact, based on excess mortality calculations, The Economist estimates that the true number of Covid deaths in China is not 4,636 – but something like 1.7 million.
That is, China’s cumulative death toll is likely at least double that of the United States. "
It shouldn't really surprise anyone that China would under report the death toll.
I remember the media using the numbers that China released and comparing them to our numbers in the states when Trump was President. They made it appear that China had it all under control while masses of people were filling up the morgues here.
It was all propaganda and China does it best. It is a shame that our media believed them over Trump but then again peddling FEAR is a terrific ratings booster.

It's a shame Trump pulled epidemiologists and others out of China prior to the outbreak...
out of 1,444,216,107 (I googled it).....1.7 is a drop in the bucket..
Going by the same percentage, it's as if 400,000 Americans went missing and no one knows. Yes I guess that can happen. We can have 400,000 illegal immigrants enter the US and no one feels the difference.
